So this has been driving me mad since I installed Mac OS X 10.7… Any time Cacti tried to output a graph, it would output, but it was painfully slow (like 30 seconds)… prior to installing 10.7, it was a fraction of a second. Logging in as root and running the “fc-list” command to get a list of installed fonts fixed the problem. The first time it ran it took 30 seconds (imagine that! November 9, 2011 at 09:25.

This is mostly a reminder to myself… but maybe someone else will find it useful as well. I migrated some databases to ndbcluster (some of the tables were fairly decent sized… 9GB for 1 table spanning 220M records), and was running into a problem where an ALTER TABLE to change the storage engine was spewing out some cryptic error message like so:.
