Artistic Balance: April 2014
http://artisticbalance.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Saturday, April 19, 2014. NYBG Orchid Show 2014. This was my 4th year going to the New York Botanical Garden Orchid Show. I look forward to this show as the kick off of spring each year. The orchids offer a great way to exercise my eye with the great forms and colors. It is great practice for making quick composition choices and the exposure choices needed to get the shot. I am really pleased with the images from this year. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Enter your email address:. View my complete profile.

Wednesday, February 26, 2014. Portrait Session: Max at Hoboken Terminal. I was speaking to Wenderina about doing portraits of our young friend Max and she came up with the idea of doing them as location portraits at Hoboken Station. What a great idea. The location was perfectly suited to Max's style and we were able to get some really great photos. Monday, February 17, 2014. Sunday, February 09, 2014. A sunday Morning Out With My Camera. Sunday, July 20, 2014. More progress at the gallery. In two short weeks we went from this. Monday, July 14, 2014. I have some ideas.

http://artisticbalance.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, August 16, 2014. Visitied the the Root Museum of Americana in Daytona today. It was a smallish exhibit, but had some great old Coca Cola / Racing / and and an old drug store and all its furnishings. The exhibit made for some fun chances to use my camera and get some interesting shots. What did you photograph today? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The Intermittent Blogger: October 2010

This weekend was pdn's expo at the Jacob Javitz Center. There were a couple hundred exhibitor booths, spanning the range of photo products from Canon and Nikon to Lowepro, Epson, Ilford, and Zeiss. Leica was there. Theirs were the only spokespeople in suits. And the only cameras behind glass. Of course. Sony set up a half-pipe in the convention center and had 3 or 4 BMX riders doing (small) tricks all day. Another 'why didn't anyone think of that before' was the SteadePod. It helps turn you into your own...

Michael J. Locke – Catching Shadows. April 24, 2014. 8220;Shadow Columns” Michael J. Locke. Pay attention to the frame. I heard that phrase often sitting in various photo critiques. Valid advice, but it means little without an understanding of how to construct an image in the rectangular confines of the camera viewfinder. The image Shadow Columns is loaded with contrast, has no one facing the camera, and the top and bottom are basically black triangles that consume half the photograph yet it is wonderful!

5 Reasons You Should be Printing Your Photos. January 27, 2015. I am frequently astonished by all the homes, offices, and institutions, that have no original artwork on the walls. Even more astonishing, is the number of photographers I know that, don’t print. Because of its resolution, and ability to present a unified image, the print is the best way to judge image quality. 2 Printing forces you to edit. Editing allows the photographer to get at the core of the artistic intention behind a body of wor...
