life with soul: Dear Grandpa
http://lifewithsoul.blogspot.com/2014/05/dear-grandpa.html
Monday, May 12, 2014. To the generous man that gave his all to his family – better known as Grandpa. It is with a generous smile that I write my memories of my dear grandpa. My smile is as generous and huge as his personality was. He was never the kind to not give a damn – because he did give a damn. He forgave. He loved. He made us laugh. I will never again encounter a lemon that will ever compare to Grandpa’s lemons. Was it really true that his secret was fish guts? I’m so very grateful. All of his gra...

whistling leaf blower: March 2013
http://whistlingleafblower.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Baby's first climb (and other spring break highlights). We took a train from champaign to see chuck in chicago. after a scramble and a near miss, we're saved by a time-zone change! The train was so crowded, they bumped us to business class. we shared the car with 2 amish couples speaking their own version of german and reading racy fiction. Spending time with chuck is what it's all about. Lego studies were on the agenda, as was the lego store, just two blocks away. We took an unconventional route to mill...

whistling leaf blower: April 2012
http://whistlingleafblower.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
I had some chinese five spice, so i used that, but i skipped the star anise (not a favorite of mine) and did not cook the eggs for as long as recommended. also, i had no chinese black tea, so i just used what i could round up from my tea stash. This dish is a feast for the eyes. the most dramatic pattern appears on the inside of the shell, which, of course, gets peeled off before serving, but the peeled eggs also look lovely. the taste on the egg is rather subtle, but nice. I arranged them in a.

whistling leaf blower: lessons from foster kittens
http://whistlingleafblower.blogspot.com/2012/08/lessons-from-foster-kittens.html
Lessons from foster kittens. We aren't ready to have pets of our own yet, but we all love cats, so we decided to become a foster family. our first set were three boys, all orange tabbies. they were difficult to tell apart, but we found a few distinguishing characteristics, and gave them the names of the three youngest weasley brothers from the harry potter stories: fred, george. They could barely walk and seemed to be nearly blind. having the mama with them made it so much easier. she took care o...We ha...

whistling leaf blower: baby's first gif
http://whistlingleafblower.blogspot.com/2013/02/babys-first-gif.html
As cosmo was building the x-wing fighter, he asked for photos to be taken along the way. then we made it into an animated .gif in photoshop. As i type this, the star wars sound track blares from a boom box and my 7 year old pours over a complete visual encyclopedia of lego star wars figures. Im so glad that its all working out well with the SW LEGO set. :). February 24, 2013 at 10:07:00 AM EST. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Growing a small family and a yard full of food. Emptyknitster's Never Ending Knitting: Today is...NATIONAL FLIP FLOP DAY!
http://emptyknitstersneverendingknitting.blogspot.com/2015/06/today-isnational-flip-flop-day.html
Friday, June 19, 2015. Today is.NATIONAL FLIP FLOP DAY! Zorries- -Thongs- -Flip Flops. At least once a year I'm corrected by a daughter when I use the word "thongs" in a way they deem incorrect. Personally, I'd like to straighten out all those who may think someone of my generation is embarrassing for "misusing the word". My use of the word may not be the first or second most common usage but it is a more common definition than what the younger generation feels is appropriate. Was a bonus for my shoe col...
