The Rice Patch: FOCUS
http://rice-patch.blogspot.com/2010/03/focus.html
Monday, March 8, 2010. David sustains his faith by the power of God. A Psalm of David. 1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? It’s path takes many strange turns. We come upon trials and situations that we never could have imagined. Many times, these situations are fearful. 8220;The Lord” (specific) vs “whom” (vague, nebulous). But on the “solution” side of the equation, it is always singular;. Peter was distracted by man...

The Rice Patch: The Working of Godly Sorrow

Tuesday, January 26, 2010. The Working of Godly Sorrow. The Working of Godly Sorrow. In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter. 2 Cor 7:8-11 (KJV). These are the reasons why Paul was saying in our beginning text from 2 Corinthians “For though I made you sorry with a letter…” He was referring to the 1st Corinthian letter. From these things we can glean some deep lessons that will be good for our souls if we accept them and apply them to our lives. No he was not, but just the opp...

The Rice Patch: October 2010

Friday, October 1, 2010. Steadfast In The Tumult. As I read this scripture, I was thinking of how life can be so tumultuous at times. Kids and bills and car repairs, terrorists and the economy and liberal’s agendas, friends in the hospital and overwhelming work schedules and the grass needs mowed. Etc., etc., etc. Whew! The problems of life can come in like a flood at times! In this Psalm, David depicts how tumultuous the works of the Lord can be! His voice is a thunder! Finger burns are very painful....

The Rice Patch: Jesus Doeth All Things Well
http://rice-patch.blogspot.com/2010/03/jesus-doeth-all-things-well.html
Sunday, March 21, 2010. Jesus Doeth All Things Well. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? That is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Don't fall for the false accusations of the devil. Resist him, and he will flee! Take your doubts, questions, hurts, and discouragements to God. Let Him answer them, and transform your doubt into greater faith. All the way my Saviour leads me; what have I to ask beside? April 25, 2010 at 10:47 AM. No man...

The Rice Patch: April 2009
http://rice-patch.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 9, 2009. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. Need God, I can do this myself, can’t I. 8221; This second version is really the same attitude but with the edge knocked off so that it doesn’t sound quite as arrogant. It almost sounds humble, doesn’t it? 160;I will take advantage of my enlightenment and reach out for more! Oh, if Eve would only have taken the counsel “Be not wise in thine own eye...

The Rice Patch: Good People Led Astray
http://rice-patch.blogspot.com/2010/02/good-people-led-astray.html
Tuesday, February 2, 2010. Good People Led Astray. But the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts. And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation. It is a sad truth that good people can be led astray. Jesus said “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”. Acts 13:2 relates that “…the Holy ...These hol...
