The concept for this website was thought up by our family as a way of expressing our passion for sailing and sharing the information that we have accumulated over the years. The site is a non for profit operation, all funds raised from sponsorship or sales of products are redeployed for hosting the site and website development. We've put together a list of useful knots with pictures which are used in sailing together with some tips about their usage on your dinghy. Later on we will be showing you how to do these knots through the use of photographs. So called because this knot was originally used to reef the sails on yachts, this is useful for joining two pieces of rope or as a binding knot. This knot is used a substantial way of finishing of a rope end and stopping it from passing through a cleat for example.
