Struthiomimus

Go to the zoo, take a look at an ostrich, and you'll see where this dino got his name. The best known of the Ornithomimids (a family of fast-running, lightly built carnivores), Struthiomimus probably ate eggs, insects, and various small animals. Instead of teeth, it had a toothless "beak.". According to several sources, there is an ongoing debate as to whether Struthiomimus and Ornithomimus are the same dinosaur. This figure looks good, and other than the dragging tail, seems pretty on the mark to me.

Pteranodon was a crested, flying reptile, or pterosaur, from the Cretaceous Period. Scientists are still debating about whether to class this guy as a dinosaur, but most sources I have come across don't. However, both pterosaurs and dinos evolved from a common ancestor from the late Triassic Period. The first Pteranodon bones were discovered in 1870 by O.C. Megatherium

Megatherium was a giant ground sloth from the Ice Age. He stood about 10 feet (some sources say up to 29 feet), and was roughly the size of an elephant. The first fossil of this beast was found in Brazil in 1789. Richard Owen named Megatherium in 1856. Megatherium is from the "second series" mold group, released in the early 1960s, which also included Iguanodon. Pleistocene Epoch (2,000,000 m.y.a. to 11,000 y.a.). North and South America.
Cynognathus

Cynognathus is quite an unusual choice for a dino-line, but Marx included one in theirs (MPC copied it later). Cynognathus was not a dinosaur; it was a Triassic Therapsid, or "mammal-like reptile." Carnivorous and roughly the size of a wolf, Cynognathus' dog-like teeth helped to give it its name, "dog jaw." H.G. Seeley is to thank for naming this guy in 1876. Korean stamp with Cynognathus, from 1991. A cynognathus I made out of polymer clay. Early to Middle Triassic (245-230 m.y.a.).

One Year Later…. It’s been a year! I forgot about this blog. So, once again, it is the end of winter term, and it is finals week. Yes, I am writing this to procrastinate. This year has gone quite a bit better, at least, if you want a quantifiable measure, more hours of sleep at more regular times. In some ways, it may have been worse, but at least I seem to be less stressed and more relaxed than last year at this time! I suspect the lack of animation classes this year has a large influence on that….
