Memories, experiences, recollections, observations, compilations and what have you! Thursday, January 16, 2014. Our locality of Chamarajapuram was regularly visited by a school of monkeys. Just pass a thought why they were not seen for the last two days, . blink ten times and you heard them jumping on the branches - if it was a daytime thought! If it was after dusk, expect them the next day! All said and done, monkeys have always fascinated me no end. Especially in summer months, sun drying of certain fo...

Memories, experiences, recollections, observations, compilations and what have you! Thursday, May 22, 2014. My Tennis, Racquets and more. Early 1930s. Right:. My grandfather K.M.Subba Rao. The great man was no longer playing when I arrived. But the last I saw him wield his racquet was during late 60s. It was against a wall in our living room standing 4 feet from it to show a little me how to hit half-volleys. I got it restrung just to get kicks from using my famed grandfather's racquet! Since none of my ...

Memories, experiences, recollections, observations, compilations and what have you! Thursday, March 13, 2014. All of us grow with mirrors. It has become one of the most indispensable objects wherever we go. Also, there is no end to getting fascinated by them, even unknowingly! Even birds enjoy looking at them! Like our sunbird on my scooter mirror. Let us see this entertaining 'mirror maze' sequence from Charlie Chaplin's 'The Circus' first, one of Chaplin's hits and one of my favourites. When my shaving...

Memories, experiences, recollections, observations, compilations and what have you! Tuesday, June 17, 2014. When there was no game being played with the street children, we took the tire along. We often gasped after a long run, but we were never tired with the tire! It often collapsed, like the cat-walking lady toppling from her high heels! Those that possessed stiff old tires were seen with a bit of envy. Those that possessed a bare old rim, though rare, were envied more! When the stick hit the scooter ...

Memories, experiences, recollections, observations, compilations and what have you! Thursday, May 28, 2015. Story of my Chinese Hat Shrub. Our family kept in touch with them. Chitra was the daughter from his second wife [seated in front of Chitra]. This is a picture from 1956, taken at my grandfather's 60th birthday. We kept in touch till all three died at different times. Chitra was the last to go, after being alone for some years, in 2001 or so. We used to call her 'Chitru'. My 'new' garden taking shape.

Memories, experiences, recollections, observations, compilations and what have you! Monday, December 30, 2013. In movie theatres I used to get kicks watching the tiny dust particles wafting in the air, dancing in the beam of light coming out of the projector lens. They would otherwise remain invisible! In this picture [left] he is examining a 35mm film with some colleague. Now let me come to my adventure. It was about 1970-71. I had just entered high school when information about toy film projectors ...

Memories, experiences, recollections, observations, compilations and what have you! Saturday, June 20, 2015. Strong impression from driving a car. Click on this picture [my crude paint-work] to see '77'. And also others to get a larger view. Traffic was very sparse in those days in the 1960s. Watching Khallaq drive was a pleasure and sometimes I used to imagine myself as Khallaq! Many do not know that I was a wonderful bus driver. when I was just about 8 or 10 years old! None of us had learnt to drive wh...

Memories, experiences, recollections, observations, compilations and what have you! Friday, January 29, 2010. Beauty of the full moon. Picture taken at 7.30 pm on 30th Jan. 2010. We found ourselves at a showroom last evening, away from Mysore. I was so distracted by the beauty of the setting sun that the purpose of our visit was in jeopardy - or so my chagrined family felt! Nature woke me up earlier than usual. Returning to bed meant rolling left and right for an hour as it was not too early than the...
