Update on my spinal surgery | Life from a Wheelchair
https://disabledinlondon.wordpress.com/2016/08/29/update-on-my-surgery
Life from a Wheelchair. Always different, often interesting. Update on my spinal surgery. I’m able to get around my flat much more easily, and am able to walk a few steps, which is how I was back in August last year. I have to limit what I do and pace myself carefully as I still get spinal pain and of course my breathlessness is another factor in how much my body will let me do. I’m sure some will miss the old buildings and the tales they can tell, but the RNOH is a flagship hospital which needs an...
The NEC acted unlawfully | Life from a Wheelchair
https://disabledinlondon.wordpress.com/2016/08/08/the-nec-acted-unlawfully
Life from a Wheelchair. Always different, often interesting. The NEC acted unlawfully. This is such a great post and so elequently written. Thank you for writing it and sharing what needs to be said. Five members of the Labour Party took the NEC to court. They were funded by a crowd funding page. They said that the NEC were acting unlawfully in applying a retrospective ruling on who was eligible to vote in the leadership election. The issue concerned who was eligible to vote in the election. Update on my...
Moving Miracle | Life from a Wheelchair
https://disabledinlondon.wordpress.com/2016/07/16/moving-miracle
Life from a Wheelchair. Always different, often interesting. For the last 8 years I was living in a flat that was totally unsuitable for my needs. It was in a very expensive area, my neighbour’s. On at least five occasions, as a result of being on a flat-swapping site Homeswapper. All of which was very frustrating and disappointing. I really was beginning to despair, I just couldn’t see how I was going to find anywhere suitable to live. Because of all my medical conditions I didn’t want t...As part of th...

Powerchairs: An Overview « Livin' Wheeled
https://livinwheeled.wordpress.com/2015/04/15/powerchairs-an-overview
Observations of wheelchair life, and other stuff. April 15, 2015. April 16, 2015. I recently read a blog post by Climbing Downhill. Before I can tell you how great Powerchairs are I must interject a word of caution. Diseases affect the body differently for everybody. Even within a disease there’s different degrees of mobility limitation. The key is to figure out what works for you. There’s no cookie cutter how to guide to using Powerchairs. For myself, I have arthrogryposis. I drive a Quickie p222se.
Catapult update « Livin' Wheeled
https://livinwheeled.wordpress.com/2015/03/14/catapult-update
Observations of wheelchair life, and other stuff. March 14, 2015. I promised an update on my catapult project so here it goes. I’d say it’s about 2/3 finished. But I don’t come down here as often as I like and I get detracted by other things like taking stuff apart and Legos. OK first things first…. Safety! OK with the safety stuff out of the way let’s talk catapult! This entry was posted in Projects. Encounter: the man at the fast food joint. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Observations of wheelchair life, and other stuff. Encounter: the man at the fast food joint. March 22, 2015. You’ve got an excellent walking gait.” maybe it’s just me but it seems odd to randomly compliment wheelchair driving skills. Maybe people aren’t sure what else to say? Hope you all enjoy my tale and I’d love to hear your thoughts. Do you get compliments like these? Do they seem odd to you? What other odd compliments do you get? This entry was posted in Encounters. Powerchair: Transportation « Livin' Wheeled
https://livinwheeled.wordpress.com/2015/05/16/powerchair-transportation
Observations of wheelchair life, and other stuff. May 16, 2015. OK so you’ve picked out your sweet new little ride, now what? 2003 Chevy 12 passenger van. This is a rear facing wheelchair lift. As you can see we removed the back two benches to give my chair a spot. There's the lift on it's way down with me on it. Minivans are a popular choice for conversion as they’re lower to the ground and are better suited for wheelchair ramps. Here’s an example of a minivan with a wheelchair ramp:. Notify me of new p...
