Make $ $ From Old Econ Notes. Microeconomics Profit Maximization: Shutdown Point. Jul 3, 2012. Determining the Shutdown Point of a Firm. This continues a previous post on profit maximization. The question we want to continue with is when should a firm shutdown? Then answer is when P (price) = AVC (average variable cost). While we’re on the topic, what is the supply curve for each firm? Forces in a competitive industry ensure that firms earn zero economic profits in the long-run. If firms are making econo...

Deriving the Aggregate Demand Curve - Discuss Economics

http://www.discusseconomics.com/macroeconomics/deriving-the-aggregate-demand-curve

Make $ $ From Old Econ Notes. Deriving the Aggregate Demand Curve. May 1, 2014. Check out this graph:. For a given nominal money stock, a price level decrease increases the real money stock. This shifts the LM curve outward, and the interest rate goes down and income increases. Therefore, along the AD curve, a price level decrease )holding the nominal money stock constant) is consistent with an income increase, and the AD curve slopes downward. Mathematical Derivation of AD Curve. Is AD a valid concept?

A Texan Economist: December 2009

http://jdvn1.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html

But not just Texan economics. Tuesday, December 15, 2009. Did everyone forget that the current recession (or, at least, the remnants thereof) was originally started by a housing crisis and financial crisis? And that these crises started before the Obama administration? And that, at the time, many people said that unemployment may not return to normal levels until 2012? Also, does no one realize that banks make money, at least partially, by lending money? Links to this post. Monday, December 14, 2009.

http://jdvn1.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html

But not just Texan economics. Thursday, April 29, 2010. Historical GDP Growth v Top Marginal Tax Rates. How about this chart? Should we raise the top marginal tax rate? Is there a positive correlation between the top marginal tax rate and GDP growth? Cursory analysis says yes. Also note that for over 60 non-consecutive years (70 years with an 8 year gap in the middle), the top marginal tax rate was over 50%. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). A Texan Economist: Are private forecasts useful?

http://jdvn1.blogspot.com/2011/11/are-private-forecasts-useful.html

But not just Texan economics. Saturday, November 12, 2011. Are private forecasts useful? Thinks about the industry for forecasts. He makes me wonder how much private work he's done, as I think he seems to really miss the point of private economic modeling. I must say- remember that a firm will often purchase a number of difference forecasts, which will disagree, as well as produce their own forecasts. Does one expect a firm to "believe" all of these forecasts? Then, why purchase the others?

A Texan Economist: Google, unemployment, sports, and loans

http://jdvn1.blogspot.com/2010/06/google-unemployment-sports-and-loans.html

But not just Texan economics. Monday, June 14, 2010. Google, unemployment, sports, and loans. This from the World Bank. Here's a chart showing the duration of unemployment. Some Houston sports hotshots (not those) talk about how their sports businesses. Angry Bear has an interesting graph of the number of loans. Given by banks. I'd like to see the graph go back a few (maybe seven) more years. View my complete profile. Google, unemployment, sports, and loans. Economy - Google News. My more leisurely blog.

Professor Whitehead doesn't go into this, but the consequences haven't been settled either. Chavez is still trying to fix his economy. This time by playing with his fixed exchange rate. The blind lead the blind. Tyler Cowen makes a partial list of over- and under-explored areas of economics. Links to this post.

MALAYSIA AND WORLD ECONOMY. Economics and Financial Issues:-. Uarr; Grab this Headline Animator. Speedy implementation of stimulus package crucial.
