CTO at eSpark Learning. I'm a hacker and learner working to personalize education for K-8 students. January 2nd, 2013 at 3:42PM. Unleash Latent Human Potential. I asked myself, why do I want to decentralize education? Oh, it’s obvious! To Unleash Latent Human Potential! Well put, Dave. Short URL for this post: https:/ tmblr.co/ZVHoVvaoE-2v. The Disrupted Student - About Me
http://disruptedstudent.org/about
CTO at eSpark Learning. I'm a hacker and learner working to personalize education for K-8 students. I’m a hacker and learner. I’m currently trying to understand the dramatic change that’s happening to the way people learn, primarily in American K-12 education. I’m the CTO at eSpark Learning, an education technology company in Chicago. We help students learn at their own pace by giving them a personalized curriculum of iPad apps, YouTube videos, and other digital content. Theme by Kevin Burg.
The Disrupted Student - We have not begun to scratch the surface
http://disruptedstudent.org/post/37316242357/we-have-not-begun-to-scratch-the-surface
CTO at eSpark Learning. I'm a hacker and learner working to personalize education for K-8 students. December 6th, 2012 at 12:17AM. We have not begun to scratch the surface. This is a somewhat rambling article, but I do agree with this sentiment:. There is so much that’s left to do, and this is a long game. In thirty years, I bet we’ll still be debating what’s next for edtech (although it will probably have a different name by then). I’m just excited to be part of it. Theme by Kevin Burg.
The Disrupted Student - How we move fast to improve education
http://disruptedstudent.org/post/41366253252/how-we-move-fast-to-improve-education
CTO at eSpark Learning. I'm a hacker and learner working to personalize education for K-8 students. January 24th, 2013 at 11:52AM. How we move fast to improve education. Of course, doing this is easier said than done. There are a few technical hurdles that we have been working on leaping in order to enable the world real time education. I wanted to share some of the technical hurdles we have faced on the road to speedy iteration, and how we have adapted our technology and culture to solve them. To resolv...
The Disrupted Student - Kids just learn better with personalized learning
http://disruptedstudent.org/post/40698840616/kids-just-learn-better-with-personalized-learning
CTO at eSpark Learning. I'm a hacker and learner working to personalize education for K-8 students. January 16th, 2013 at 2:55PM. Kids just learn better with personalized learning. The author of this article offers a decent overview of the state of the world and motivations behind personalized learning. However, he concludes that kids may suffer from too much personalization. I couldn’t disagree more. What if their sweet spot is just no good for certain types of learning and problem solving? Sure, a poor...

Traveling Light
Monday, April 16, 2012. I learned many things from my month in Afghanistan and after a month of being home in Canada, I still find myself processing much of what I experienced. Here are a few things I definitely learned or was reminded of:. Things are not as they appear. The human spirit is strong. The determination and pride the Afghan people exhibited was truly inspiring. They are amazingly strong, not to mention incredibly resourceful. Even in desperate times and places, people can be at their warmest.

Felix is the Pony Prince! Every body is a modified body. A Response to NYC’s Dyke March 2010. June 2, 2010 by ponyprince. I recently heard that NYC’s Dyke March theme was “Barely Legal.” The image is a depiction of a young girl in handcuffs and in print around the photo it states, “Woman Only.” I cannot confirm this otherwise I would upload a photo, but I have something to write to the organizers. None of this is necessarily negative. Dykes explicitly stating their desires for age-play and younger pa...

CTO at eSpark Learning. I'm a hacker and learner working to personalize education for K-8 students. June 20th, 2013 at 2:00PM. IPads are going to land in Los Angeles. This is great news (although I hope that LA figures out how to use the device to its full potential). My favorite part is the teachers’ response when Microsoft pushed to be included:. June 5th, 2013 at 10:26AM. Helping app developers get real feedback from teachers. Some developers expressed this frustration:. At eSpark, we curate hundreds ...

Disrupted Systems: A Research laboratory on disruptive communication
Just like Twitter, Rumble allows you to share message, however Rumble does not rely on any infrastructure network to work, not even the Internet. It is entirely off-the-grid and pretty unique too! Whenever Rumble is running, it tries to connect to other rumble devices around using Bluetooth or Wifi. Rumble stores every message on a local database and forward them to its neighbour every opportunity it gets, that's how messages are distributed, they spread through the social fabric! Follow us on Twitter.
