A Criterium, or crit, is a road race held on a short course (usually less than 1 mile), often run on closed-off town or city centre streets. There are a number of Crits throughout the year in Kent, Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk as well as further afield. Not only are there races organised though British Cycling, but if you are a veteran, you can race in the various over 40 categorises through the ‘League of Veteran Racing Cyclists’ (LVRC) events.

Club organised rides are normally between 40 and 60 miles in length, with an average speed of around 17mph. We stop for coffee and cake in a local café somewhere around half distance and discuss all things cycling. Ensure your bike is well maintained and roadworthy. Wheels, tyres, brakes, chain and gear(s) are in good working order. It is a good idea to wear the right type of cycling clothing for the conditions.
