Impressions notebook: Rome, photo 9
http://bettinasimpressions.blogspot.com/2015/08/rome-photo-9.html
If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need. Marcus Tullius Cicero. Thursday, 13 August 2015. Rome, photo 9. Somewhere on a corner of the street. 13 August 2015 at 18:26. Is that a foot? How big is it? 15 August 2015 at 08:29. Yes it is a foot, all that is left of a huge statue, probable of an Egyptian Goddess (there was a temple of Isis nearby). The foot is 4ft long and the statue would have been about 26ft high. But remains like these you see all around Rome :-). Luxury on a budget.

If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need. Marcus Tullius Cicero. Monday, 17 August 2015. Caravaggio, Andrew Graham-Dixon. He was a painter who did not have students and who had no workshop. He was a painter who never made drawings before a painting. He was a painter with almost no official education, who had to learn the trade himself. He was a painter who went against fashion and stayed true to himself. The Madonna of Loreto. Pilgrims with dirty feet? They accused him of only bei...

Adventures in travel, food, and other earthly delights. A Control Freak Lets Go. May 27, 2014. By A Crooked Mile. I’ve finally finished Josie’s high school graduation present. I haven’t crocheted an afghan in decades and I’ve never made one with granny squares. This was enormous fun! What was maybe most fun was that I didn’t have a plan. I did use the afghan below. As a model, but you can see that my afghan turned out nothing like the original. That I made to fill in a hole. You never know how someone wi...

Lookin’ Out My Back Door | A Crooked Mile

Adventures in travel, food, and other earthly delights. Lookin’ Out My Back Door. October 7, 2014. By A Crooked Mile. Now I understand why Impressionism got its start in Normandy. The sky and the light here are beautiful. And then there are the cliffs, beaches, cathedrals, meadows, and ancient villages, all of which must have been so alluring for artists who wanted to get out of musty studios and paint. Which is great fun. Here’s one on Monet. To get you started. Sisley’s “Paysage”. Notre Dame de Jumièges.
