the rest of my life: Typically tropical..part one
http://divajude.blogspot.com/2008/11/typically-tropicalpart-one.html
Monday, November 24, 2008. Typically tropical.part one. Not having to go to work on a Monday morning is but a minor addition to the reasons to be cheerful when you're sitting on the veranda of your apartment, watching the boyfriend dive into the pool just a dozen yards away through the palm-rich and gloriously sunny surroundings of the All-Seasons Europa apartments. And it's only 7 am and already in the early thirties. Our unexpectedly speedy exit through passport control/customs was offset by an extraor...
the rest of my life: April 2009
http://divajude.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 21, 2009. My Top One Hundred. I’m not certain to this day whether Malta even has a zoo, let alone whether we went. We returned to England in 1970 with my youngest brother having just been born (he was 6 weeks old when we flew home) but it’s not for another 4 years or so that any music makes an impression on my memories. I must confess, here, that I’ve just wiki’d Leo Sayer, and did you know he isn’t really called Leo? I was in Woody tent, although I only lasted a night before being taken i...

http://divajude.blogspot.com/2008/09/main-reason-ive-decided-to-start.html
Sunday, September 07, 2008. You may well be asking why I'll suddenly have more time on my hands, and the reason is simply this: after 20 seasons of scoring for. And closely following the “why? 8221; is “what are you going to do instead? 8221; It seemed natural, therefore, to try and address these questions as I commence my post-scoring life. In response to the “why”, it's easier to list the reasons that don't apply:. I haven't fallen out of love with cricket. I haven't fallen out of love with scoring.
the rest of my life: September 2008
http://divajude.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 25, 2008. Seconds out, Round One. So, I'm back - although it's taken rather longer than I anticipated - with news of my 3rd trip to the home of cricket for the National Club Championship final against Malden. To be honest, the overwhelming impression I retain of the trip is one of sitting around waiting, primarily because the latter part of our time in St. John's Wood mostly entailed sitting around waiting! But there was other stuff. Pea, mint and broad bean veloute. Fondant potato, c...

Killing Time...: Hope, Hype, and the Anti-Bush
http://flipsix3.blogspot.com/2009/02/hope-hype-and-anti-bush.html
Monday, 23 February 2009. Hope, Hype, and the Anti-Bush. So, Barack Obama eh? See, I can be topical - a bit late, but when the subject is as big as this, what's a few weeks. I worry about the bloke. Does anyone else think that he's already been set up to take a momentous fall? I can't imagine that there were too many people who were sorry to see Dubya stepping down. A few comics will probably miss the easy target. Although he obviously doesn't think so. Side note: anyone else notice how, despite confirma...
Killing Time...: November 2008
http://flipsix3.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 18 November 2008. Protecting the Sirius Star. The first major news story my mind really picked up on, since getting back from two weeks on holiday, has been the hijacking of the Sirius Star. It got me thinking though. What can the shipping operators do? Then it hit me, memories on the fear struck into my adolescent heart when doing my paper round - all because of a little perspex sign on the gate. I'm going into business, anyone want to help me with the start-up capital? Links to this post.
Killing Time...: TV, it's not what it used to be!
http://flipsix3.blogspot.com/2009/02/tv-its-not-what-it-used-to-be.html
Monday, 2 February 2009. TV, it's not what it used to be! OK so I'm maybe being a little harsh, given the variety of channels now available I'm not going to be entirely. On target with my "rant" - but then again it's my blog, and that's my prerogative. As Bobby Brown might say. I've just discovered that Life on Earth is 30 years old - has it realy been that long? Anyway, back to the point. I found that out watching the fantastic Attenborough documentary. On Charles Darwin's theories. When I was a kid.
Killing Time...: October 2008
http://flipsix3.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, 26 October 2008. It's not often that I agreed with the Daily Mail (or, in this case, their Sunday publication). However I read this editorial piece today - I really can't add anything to it. Mr Collins has hit the nail on the head. Above all, I remember the defiant intensity of their belief that Hull City. Football Club would one day achieve something wonderful. Which brings us to Phil Gartside. Phil is the chairman of Bolton. A member of the FA board and another of football's dreamers. Phil'...
Killing Time...: March 2009
http://flipsix3.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 4 March 2009. A little while back I had one of my increasingly frequent "things aren't what they used to be" moans about the sort of stuff that gets commissioned on TV, and the sort of stuff that doesn't get enough exposure. In particular I praised a David Attenborough. Documentary about Charles Darwin. The BBC are currently showing a new Attenborough. Led series - Nature's Great Events. Herds to their particular area of the Serengeti. I imagine, though, that making such incredible material mu...

Killing Time...: The Genius is loose, as is one of his screws.

Wednesday, 18 February 2009. The Genius is loose, as is one of his screws. If you use iTunes, and you're not one of those folks who listens only to entire albums, then you need to learn a little about Smart Playlists. A little Googling led me to Andy Budd's superb setup. A slightly modified version of that, and a couple of nights spent tagging and rating my library, and I now effectively have a set of self-updating 'radio stations' on my PC and iPods. Here's what Apple have to say about it:. So I decided...
Killing Time...: I Need Something....
http://flipsix3.blogspot.com/2009/02/i-need-something.html
Wednesday, 11 February 2009. Well the cat’s out of the bag, so to speak, and something I’ve been getting excited about for a while now is official. But first a bit of background. 8220;I see Starz, and the moon is Big and Black, well there's a full Sheer Heart Attack. But the cheapest trick of all is when I hear that London Call. I need something and I need it fast, I need Jason Scorching past. I need to feel they feel the same, 'cos when they almost know my name it's like 29 x the pain”. That led to my i...
Killing Time...: Mr Darcy, Arnie or Alien?
http://flipsix3.blogspot.com/2009/02/mr-darcy-arnie-or-alien.html
Tuesday, 17 February 2009. Mr Darcy, Arnie or Alien? It’s lunchtime in the Solomon office, and I’m pretty much struck dumb. I like films, as anyone who has seen my DVD collection will testify – I really really like films. Then again, with what TV offers up most of the time, can you really blame me? My tastes range from the mainstream to the downright obscure, across the dramatic and comedic. From fantasy and sci-fi worlds to plain old real-world Mother Earth. And even Mark Wahlberg leading a bunch of sur...
