Adam and the Capstone: Last Blog
http://adamscapstone.blogspot.com/2010/04/last-blog.html
Adam and the Capstone. Wednesday, April 28, 2010. I think that during the course of this class my favorite text was. wow, this is harder than I thought. I simply loved Wind in the Willows. Is just a classic if not THE classic. Out of all those I would probably have to suggest that The Dead. Was my favorite. It was fascinating to look at Joyce in his more lucid narrative style in this story while also looking at Finnegans Wake. Which made the reading more rich. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Adam and the Capstone: "Under The Jaguar Sun", Food Epiphanies, and The Frame
http://adamscapstone.blogspot.com/2010/04/under-jaguar-sun-food-epiphanies-and.html
Adam and the Capstone. Tuesday, April 13, 2010. Under The Jaguar Sun", Food Epiphanies, and The Frame. Today I started reading. Huachinango a la vera cruzana. Obviously these statements entail a divine revelation about the nature of eating and being eaten contained in the phrase the narrator calls "universal cannibalism". The meanings and metaphors of hunger, food, eating all are at play and really provide a complex look at cannibalism. How's that for a food epiphany! If on a Winter's Night a Traveler.

Adam and the Capstone: Paper Presentations Day 1
http://adamscapstone.blogspot.com/2010/04/paper-presentations-day-1.html
Adam and the Capstone. Monday, April 12, 2010. Paper Presentations Day 1. I was really impressed with everyone's paper who presented today. Since it was the first day I thought that maybe everybody's papers would be a little less than amazing but I was very wrong. Even people who seemed to think that their papers weren't as polished as they would have liked had good direction. It was easy to see potential with where they were going. Anyway, I'm excited for the papers to come! Between two waves of the sea".

Adam and the Capstone. Thursday, April 15, 2010. Poem- Vita Adae Et Evae. Here is a copy of the poem that I was talking about earlier in the semester. The only reason I hadn't published it on here yet was because of the Poetry contest the English Dept. sponsors. I didn't want to post it and cause a conflict of interest. Anyway see if you can spot some of the themes from this class (especially some of the Wakeian language! Vita Adae Et Evae. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Between two waves of the sea".

Adam and the Capstone: Magic Word-- Paper Thesis
http://adamscapstone.blogspot.com/2010/04/magic-word-paper-thesis.html
Adam and the Capstone. Wednesday, April 7, 2010. Magic Word- Paper Thesis. Sometimes all it takes is the magic word. After class, mere minutes ago, I found the magic word to complete my paper thesis. Originally I had the overwhelming gut feeling that what I wanted to say was ". The Last Temptation of Christ. Last Temptation of Christ. The class discussion today also revealed a surprising amount of material that I plan on using in my paper. Katie's paper topic on the dark epiphany being a precursor fo...

Adam and the Capstone: The Best Paper I've Ever Written...?
http://adamscapstone.blogspot.com/2010/04/best-paper-ive-ever-written.html
Adam and the Capstone. Sunday, April 25, 2010. The Best Paper I've Ever Written? We turn the corner out of the vestibule and the church lies before me. The walls are made of bricks colored like peaches and the wooden pews are a deep brown lacquered and shiny. Up above is the vaulted ceiling where I presume God lives and below, where we sit, is a soft carpet tinted rich red like wine ran down from the altar to the back of the furthest pews where we stand now. The Last Temptation of Christ. However, to eve...

Adam and the Capstone: Sherlock Holmes
http://adamscapstone.blogspot.com/2010/04/sherlock-holmes.html
Adam and the Capstone. Monday, April 5, 2010. Just a couple of days ago I finished The Complete Works of Sherlock Holmes. April 6, 2010 at 2:49 PM. The movie was entertaining, but not really Sherlock. I dont have any trouble with it messing with my mental image of Holmes at all, because it was so very, very off-base. Adam and the Capstone: "The Last Temptation of Christ"
http://adamscapstone.blogspot.com/2010/04/last-temptation-of-christ.html
Adam and the Capstone. Sunday, April 4, 2010. The Last Temptation of Christ". This weekend I've been reading The Last Temptation of Christ. For a little background Kazantzakis was born in 1883 in Crete and attended a university in Athens- he seems to draw on his experiences around the Mediterranean to really paint amazingly sensory settings. Kazantzakis was mostly writing during the mid 20th century with The Last Temptation of Christ. I imagine some readers might find the book too long. It really tak...
