Taking over the Fifth floor at the newly opened boutique hotel in Atlantic City , The Chelsea, last weekend saw it's launch. Sunday, January 25, 2009. Tuesday 20th January 2009. Barack Obama's inauguration. Unfortunately it wasn't an option for me to take a trip down to Washington to be part of this monumental event, so sneaking out of work at lunchtime to watch it on the big screens in Times Square had to do. Seeing Barry on this scale looming above Times Square crowd was pretty sensational. There wasn't a dry eye in sight. Oddly there was no sound broadcast though? Obama taking his oath from all angles. NYC, NY, United States.

We then went over to Milk Gallery for the Art of Elysium "Rebel Rebel" childrens' charity fundraiser party / auction for Mick Rock and artist Russell Young's new show of screenprints of some of Mick's iconic photos, hosted by Riley Keough and Elijah Wood. It was a mad house! Finally we tottered to the Bowery Hotel for Tommy Hilfiger and Glamour Magazine's party. DJ Sky Nellor in my Ribbon dress. The gorgeous Anne Dexter Jones.

The new exhibition at the Harlem based Museum of the City of New York , "Valentina: American Couture and the Cult of Celebrity" opened on the eve of New York Fashion Week. Valentina ( 1899-1989) dressed Greta Garbo, Katherine Hepburn and the Duchess of Windsor amongst others, was a pioneer of American couture and a glamourous celebrity in her own right. I went along with my friend Mark Palmen to take a look. New York Fashion Week part 2.

Monday, February 25, 2008. Cai Guo-Qiang at the Gugg. On Saturday my friend artist Deanne Cheuk ( who also designs textile prints for my label) invited me to go the dinner at the Guggenheim to celebrate the opening of the Chinese artist Cai Guo-Qiang's retrospective "I Want to Believe". Inopportune: Stage 1. Wow! The exploding car tumbling through the Guggenheim's central space is spectacular. Me with the artist Cai Guo-Qiang. One of Cai's beautiful gunpowder paintings, which he's really known best for.
