This morning I awoke to the news that the president of that country who has been in power since my time there has died. It has left a void of power, as is often the case in many African nations. Saturday, October 25, 2008. Zell on the Mosel River. It was a beautiful October day and time to explore the Mosel River region. We had never been to Zell before. well known for wonderful wines with a black cat label. What a quaint town. I enjoyed onion cake and fresh grape juice, a favorite Fall treat in this region that I have become addicted to. Wednesday, October 22, 2008. Briedel grapes on the Mosel River. There were a few grapes left. We took a ferry across the river. Some grapes are grown in slate.

Friday, June 13, 2008. Sweden: Stockholm Gamla Stan. Stockholm, Sweden, we discovered, is a city of many islands. The oldest part is Gamla Stan where the residence for Swedish royalty remains today. This is the historic harbor. Above is the plaza outside the Nobel Peace Prize museum. We stopped for a moment to check out the amazing book store. The narrow cobblestone streets in this part of town are peaceful and picturesque. This historic Lutheran Church is beautiful inside and out. Well, apparently not.
