The Single Man's min/min/max Cooking. Mashed Potatoes and Knives. One more thing about knives - always run water over the knife after you peel or chop anything! Now about those potatoes. You can add several different things and combination of things to the potatoes before mashing them. I like whole milk (actually that's the only kind I ever buy) or buttermilk. I'm sure half and half or cream would taste good but is probably unnecessarily fattening. You can add a mixture of milk and soy milk!

Sometimes people will tell you this and sometimes you figure it out for yourself. I was never a great fan of Emeril Lagasse but once while watching his show, he imparted the cardinal rule for gravy - hot to hot, cold to cold. Brown Gravy aka Sawmill Gravy.
