Plans for the big, much anticipated Thornhill Reunion were compromised at the last minute due to some unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances, but we headed out to Missouri nonetheless and still had a great time. We drove up on Friday, June 25, with our books on tape: The Hobbit (although it was so painful to listen to, we couldn't finish it) and Adventures in Odyssey (thanks Bekah! They visited me at work and took me to lunch at Chick-fil-a (I can't lie.it's becoming a new favorite of mine)! David and ...

Thornhills in Dallas: October 2009

http://www.dlthornhill.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

We ventured out to our farmers market for the first time this afternoon and will probably be back every Saturday from here on out! And something about fresh (affordable! Produce just makes me VERY happy =). David and Lindsay Thornhill. While we were at work, before heading out early Tuesday morning, but a trip to Dallas, in our book at least, is only complete with a trip to Pokey O's. For ice cream sandwiches, yum. Good to see familiar faces in a city I am still learning to call home =). Fall is upon us.

http://www.dlthornhill.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

Summer = no classes! New title: Transfer Administrator. I have business cards. Nothing much else new on the home front =). So far, we have managed one round of disc golf in the heat and disc golf means slurpies. Worth it. There is a cute park down the street where I like to spend time reading, praying and reflecting when I get a chance.although I get distracted taking pictures sometimes =). This year we are going to Silver Dollar City, in Branson, which I guess is kind of a big deal out here? Spiritual D...

Thornhills in Dallas: March 2010

http://www.dlthornhill.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

Last weekend, after a productive morning of spring cleaning, David and I took a long awaited trip to the Dallas Arboretum. It was the first nice weekend we've had here for a while - yay for spring! Everyone else had the same idea though - we had to park off-site and take a shuttle in it was so crowded. The tulips were out (Dallas Blooms) and it seemed like spring was officially here. After a week of this 70* weather, this weekend, on the first official day of spring, we had freezing cold weather and snow!

Thornhills in Dallas: September 2009

http://www.dlthornhill.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html

The last bits of summer. I have always considered Labor Day weekend to be the last hoorah before going back to school. It meant block parties or bbqs at a beach house growing up; now it means the last nice long weekend off from work and school before the holidays. Our closest friends in Dallas were gone for the weekend, so we spent almost all of our weekend together playing! My boss let me leave at 4pm on Friday and so the long weekend began! So instead of losing two discs, we gained one. We spent the 4t...

In Every Season: February 2010

http://kristifuller.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Saturday, February 27, 2010. I love getting out into the city. venturing out with no place to go. Granted, I don't get to do it nearly as often as I'd like. In fact, today, I stayed inside all day resting and recooping from this long, busy week. A couple of kids on their way home from school. Most Ugandan schools require the students to wear uniforms. We'll see all different color combinations of uniforms as we're on our own way to school. A kikoi is a large, thin sheet of fabric that are very common to ...

In Every Season: November 2010

http://kristifuller.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Monday, November 29, 2010. Oh, what a beautiful morning! Even though I was almost late for my 8:00 "you should be here since you're a teacher, even though school doesn't start till 8:30" time, I was so glad that on one of my early-morning drives from SLO that I stopped and got some photos as the sun rose over the mountains and lit up this vineyard! This is just south of King City on the 101.). Friday, November 12, 2010. To play "catch up". Now, I have to say that even though I haven't actually PUBLISHED ...

In Every Season: April 2010

http://kristifuller.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html

Wednesday, April 21, 2010. Well, here I am. 3 days back into school and already I have stories to share. I have to say that my 6th graders are phenomenal. They have been a little stir-crazy being back in the classroom, but overall, they have been great. EVERY single one of them has done their homework this week, they all remember what we had learned about polygons from before break, and I couldn't be happier as their teacher! So I decided to go down on Tuesday after school. Also unfortunately, this story...

In Every Season: November 2009

http://kristifuller.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

Friday, November 20, 2009. My portion and my cup. At first, it wasn't a huge deal; little frustrations and inconveniences came here and there. I feel like I prayed half-heartedly about them, thinking that they'd just go away. not realizing that this was going to be a big way that Satan was going to wear me down and tear me away from God. Or do we prove our distrust that HE is in control, has every detail planned out, and has allotted us every event and circumstance we find ourselves in? Finally, brothers...

In Every Season: July 2010

http://kristifuller.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Tuesday, July 27, 2010. Well, it's kind of old news by now, but I'll tell it again! I got a job! About two weeks ago, I received a call from a school up in Northern California (so sue me, I consider Monterey to be NorCal) asking if I'd be interested. In interviewing for a 2nd grade position that they had open. "Sure! I replied. Unfortunately, though, they were holding the. Interviews on Monday in front of a panel of people from the school district. Why is that unfortunate? Just a brief interlude. I h...

In Every Season: June 2010

http://kristifuller.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

Sunday, June 13, 2010. New people, new places! So, if you actually read through my blog on a consistent basis, you know that this post is actually posted in July, and simply post-dated to June. When I look over to the right-hand column where it keeps track of how many posts I make in a month, I can't help but feel sad because of the lonely "1" for June! I've decided to ameliorate that problem and create a few posts about my time in London, Paris, Cinque Terre, Sorrento, and Rome! And I couldn't resist :).

In Every Season: December 2010

http://kristifuller.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

Monday, December 27, 2010. What if we're wrong? A conversation that I had recently with one of my best friends began and ended with this question. I was actually greatly relieved to know that she, too, had had these thoughts and wondering about what happens in the end of this life… and what happens if it all amounts to nothing? What if after all my hope and faith in Jesus and in the Bible, that I’m wrong… and there’s nothing there? Hope is what makes me think we do. Have it right. “My hope is b...Hope fo...

In Every Season: May 2011

http://kristifuller.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Friday, May 13, 2011. I've been terrible about any and all pics and info about my month in Europe last summer! So here we are, almost a year-to-date, and I've decided to actually go through all of the pics and choose my faves to post here! I know Kell posted a whole bunch of our time together on facebook, but here is a start of pics for the two weeks I spent before Mom and Kell met up with me! I found myself in London (Hampstead Heath, to be more precise) for the first week and in Amersham (a little city...

Friday, March 26, 2010. Our final soccer match. It seems like the end of the school year is hurling towards us and there's nothing I can do to slow it down! Yesterday, on Friday afternoon, we had our last soccer game of the year. The kids played hard and fought through till the end, and we ended up tied 4-4. The kids have been such a joy to my life. Early on in the season, I had to make the rule, "No holding hands in soccer! And sweet Jonah, our goal-keeper. He's always trying to do his best, but he ...
