Tuesday, January 29, 2013. 剛過去的星期天，我參與了社區裡的一項大寶森節慶典。這是一個華人居多的社區，由組屋管理機構和居民的代表合力籌辦的大寶森節祈福膜拜活動。這個慶典的規模不是很大，人潮當然也不會像湧往植物園瀑布路的興都教廟宇來得人頭攢動。可是，我卻深深的感受到這樣一個小小的慶典，不止結合了居民的齊心合力，也大大的反映著我國多元文化、宗教和種族之間的尊重、分享與共融。一直以來，馬來西亞有著不同的種族、不同的宗教信仰、不同的生活方式和習俗，然而，我們彼此互相尊重和諒解，無論甚麼膚色或語言，我們依然和睦相處和守望相助，接受著友族同胞們和我們不一樣的地方。許多時候，我們更是學習和認識友族同胞們的宗教和文化。在我們的社區生活裡，一直都存在著許許多多肯花時間、肯花勞力、肯花金錢為創建和諧社區而默默努力的小人物。這好比一枚小小的螺絲釘，雖然不起眼，好像沒甚麼作用的，但是它卻可以把巨型物件給固定好。我是檳城人。我住在檳城。我愛檳城。這一篇文章，就寫給屬於檳城的每一個人，願與大家共勉。 Labels: 《星洲日報》特色專欄. Tuesday, June 26, 2012. 發展，請“慢”走. 隨著互聯網的普及化、科技產品越來越發達，上網、平板電腦或智慧型手機，變成了人們日常生活中的必需品。年紀小小的孩子們，對網絡資訊和科技產品的掌握能力，絕對不亞於大人們。也因為這樣，像三五成群的孩子追逐打鬧、歡笑吶喊；玩捉迷藏、玩七彩彈珠、跳橡皮筋、踢毽子、玩家家酒. 等這些往日的情景已不復見，取而代之的盡是電腦屏幕。一部分的家長甚至為了能夠好好吃一頓飯，索性將智慧型手機或平板電腦當成. 結果呢？我們不難發現，一些孩子年紀小小但眼睛近視很深、一些孩子沉迷網絡遊戲變孤僻、一些孩子缺乏運動變肥胖、一些孩子缺乏群體遊戲因為根本沒有玩伴、一些孩子也因社交網絡的紛爭涉及謀殺、自殺、離家出走等衍生社會問題。檳州這陣子有鬧得熱騰騰的山坡發展問題。除了有受影響居民和非政府組織站出來非議，少不了的是今朝罵前朝、前朝批今朝的場面。許多人都明白發展步伐的快速，不過，很多時候我們是不是應該放緩腳步，停下來想一想，我們究竟需要一個怎樣的社會發展和居住環境？ Labels: 《星洲日報》特色專欄. Monday, April 30, 2012. 檳州行政議員兼峇都蘭樟區州議員羅興強這陣子成了眾人的討論對象。他說若選民在來屆大選投人不投黨，民聯會失去檳州政權；接著，他又說本身在推廣中國旅遊方面，比前朝的鄧章耀做得好。大選的跫音逼近了，搞得那些議員、准候選人一個個特別的緊張兮兮。一個人要是慌張起來，難免會語無倫次，本來想要高調博宣傳，殊不知出位不成反自曝其短。其實，在一眾民聯的“海嘯議員”的素質受質疑的問題當中，除了人稱阿源的郭庭源，羅興強算是榜上有名的。羅興強自當官後，飽受負面新聞缠身，官運可說是“麻麻地”。他先是輸了黨選，官職一度甚傳岌岌可危。羅興強的英語能力有限是眾所週知的。記得有次我參加了車水路暹廟的潑水節慶典，羅興強來開幕，他用英語致詞，聴得我的友人一頭霚水，還問我難道這就是政府長官的素質嗎。事情發生了，一名旅遊業者廣傳電郵，內容指羅興強在墨爾本的旅遊展無法以流利的英語和國外業者溝通。切記，好不好不是自己說了算，你的老板（人民）自有分曉。 Labels: 《星洲日報》特色專欄.
