Thursday, July 30, 2009. Final Week: Part II. Another direction I'd like to go in for the book is something akin to this little piece that I did a couple of weeks ago:. It also might be interesting to kind of fuse these two techniques (this and the last post I posted) to add some texture to the flat colors of my sketchbook drawings. Tuesday, July 28, 2009. Final Week: Part I. Today I continued with the research. I browsed though Etsy's zine section. This is My Boyfriend. Dead Letters and Rare Words.

Dustin Williams' Blog: Master Study 3: Step-by-Step

http://dmwilliamsdesign.blogspot.com/2009/07/master-study-3-step-by-step.html

Wednesday, July 15, 2009. Master Study 3: Step-by-Step. This study ended up being quite a bit of fun. I tried a few things with the brushes that I'm sure a lot of you illustration majors have done before, but were pretty new to me. I'm always curious about how people go about trying different things, so here's a basic step-by-step of what I did:. Next, I used the brushes to created the basic background. The custom brushes worked really well in creating a painted feel. I traced the black outlines in Illus...

Dustin Williams' Blog: Master Study 3

http://dmwilliamsdesign.blogspot.com/2009/07/master-study-3.html

Monday, July 13, 2009. This is an illustration done by Faile. An artist collective based out of Brooklyn. This style isn't really what they're known for, but I found the drawing charming regardless. I really need to make myself experiment with different kinds of brushes in Photoshop, so I though this would be a good exercise. July 14, 2009 at 12:33 PM. I think that will make a great study. July 14, 2009 at 5:14 PM. Cant wait to see the finish piece. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Final Week: Part II.

Dustin Williams' Blog: Interpretation Week 2 Update

http://dmwilliamsdesign.blogspot.com/2009/07/interpretation-week-2-update.html

Sunday, July 12, 2009. Interpretation Week 2 Update. I decided to try out a few textures on this; the top is a texture taken from the postcard and the bottom is a hair texture taken from cgtextures.com. Which I've found to be quite helpful. July 13, 2009 at 1:10 PM. Hard to tell, but I think I like the photo texture one better. It makes it more a part of the original image while still dramatically not fitting. Tuesday, July 28, 2009. Final Week: Part I. Today I continued with the research. I browsed though Etsy's zine section. Today and picked out a few things that I liked. Here are a few of my favorites (the rest are under my Zine delicious bookmark - which I think will become extremely helpful as this project continues):. This is My Boyfriend. Cool illustrations with hand-drawn text. Dead Letters and Rare Words. Based off of photos. A book of doodles. From the Ground Up. An entire zine about butts. And then ...

Dustin Williams' Blog: Final Week: Proposal

http://dmwilliamsdesign.blogspot.com/2009/07/final-week-proposal.html

Monday, July 27, 2009. For my final, I'd like to put into motion a project that I've wanted to do for quite some time: a book. Over the summer I purchased a couple 'zines from artists around the country and quickly became fascinated with these home-made yet visually sound projects. I've create a few books in the past, although nothing too complex, mostly because I simply didn't have the skill set. Lots of photos to come. July 28, 2009 at 9:38 AM. Ryan's Blog: Project 3

http://valleart.blogspot.com/2009/07/project-3.html

Monday, July 20, 2009. I'm almost done with my third project. I finished painting the characters and decided on the original pencil lines over the blob brush lines. I improved the background some with more detailed clouds. I also tried making the characters in the back fade away into the smoke a little bit, but I'm not sure if it looks better this way or not.
