Earthly Luster: March 2012
http://www.earthlyluster.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Sunday in the City. 26 March, 2012. Following today's weather forecast, we missed out on a potential trip to the Muir Woods. Instead we strolled around the Haight and ate brunch at la Boulange. We admired the ocean view from Fisherman's Wharf and watched a red sun set over Alcatraz Island. With all what we have seen and experienced lately, it's a little incomprehensible to me that one week from now we will be on our way back home. That old reality seems so distant. Earthly Luster: February 2012
http://www.earthlyluster.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Four months from now. 26 February, 2012. Mom's garden is four months from being rich and abundant. Looking at the chilling February weather, I remember that there is nothing better than summer and that I can't wait to spend my weekends at my Mom's place. Norwegian summers are perfect for finding photographic motives. After all, photography is all bout chasing light - and with the Scandinavian midnight sun that is the one thing that never lacks. 20 February, 2012. Is there a focal point? 18 February, 2012.

Friday, July 10, 2015. Introducing. A Bit of Appliqué! The release date for my book (Yes, I wrote a book! Is only a few days away! A Bit of Appliqué: Easy Projects with Modern Flair. Starts shipping next week, on July 14. It seems so long ago (yet it was only last summer) when I sent the manuscript and projects off to Martingale. For all that time, and even longer, I had to keep almost all of it secret. It's hard to describe how excited I am to finally reveal this! Or find it on Amazon. Architect. Mo...

Wednesday, March 26, 2014. Back in the beginning of February, I took a workshop with Sara Lawson of Sew Sweetness. And made this lovely bag. The workshop was an all-day event, organized by the Chicago Modern Quilt Guild. A group which I am so happy to have joined about a year ago. Many of us braved (yet another! Snowstorm that day, to gather and sew and eat and sew and chat and sew. as Sara expertly and patiently walked us through the making of her Aragon bag. I used fabrics from Jeni Baker's Nordika.

Sunday, August 25, 2013. A Summer of Being (or Rationalizing Lazy! Last spring, when I was scheduling our summer and discussing options with the kids for camps and other things, my oldest told me that he didn't want to do too much this summer. I think he specifically said, "I just want to relax." Well, relax we did. We also sewed, watched movies, spent time at our neighborhood pool, and hung out with friends. Made our own games, visited museums, swam, kayaked, sampled many. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Wednesday, October 16, 2013. A box full of these arrived in the mail yesterday! It feels like forever since I received an email from Martingale Press asking if I'd like to contribute to a publication of sewing patterns. (I did, of course! Once I got over the shock of being asked.) I'm so happy with the way this book turned out. Sew Gifts! Is a charming book with clear instructions and illustrations, and a great variety of really. Lovely gifts to sew. And it's just in time for the holidays, too! Thanks to...

Blue and the Girl: reconstruction
http://blueandthegirl.blogspot.com/2012/02/reconstruction.html
Blue and the Girl. I Shrunk The Hand Knits. There. It is said! Mum - I am sorry! I'm a knitter. A - not especially often and very slow knitter - but a knitter non the less. I know how much work and love and not-particularly-cheap yarn goes into a child's jumper. I know that when it is a gift it is made with thought and generosity and a whole-lotta time. I know that wool hand knits require hand washing. HAND washing! Washed because well -. But surely there are ways to redeem such naivety (laziness)? Anyho...

Polkadot Lane: July 2013
http://onpolkadotlane.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 2, 2013. So things have been a little quiet around here.well, quiet on the creative front unfortunately. But I'm not going to dwell on that.life is busy. Today, though, I got to make - yay! I really wanted to make a softie of some sort, and at first I thought 'monster' but I soon came to the decision to turn my fox screen print design into one instead. And I'm so happy I did. It was a lovely way to spend the afternoon, ignoring the housework and listening to 'The Great Gatsby' soundtrack.

Polkadot Lane: Mixing it Up
http://onpolkadotlane.blogspot.com/2013/03/mixing-it-up.html
Saturday, March 23, 2013. Along with my crochet projects, I have managed to play, just a little bit, with my screen printing designs. I had this idea in my head for a few weeks, and I finally got to give it a shot, in real life. Mixing up my superbot guy with a chevron print. I must say, I'm pretty happy with the result and it's printed on a light blue linen, which is a nice change from white. I've got a couple to print off in aqua and silver too. This one will be on it's way to the shop.
