The adventures of Shaun, Cindy, Abbey, and Quinn. Labels: Kids and family. Abbey wrote this story about our ride last weekend:. A huge bolt of lighting just flashed in front of us! We go along as fast as we can. Mud is splattering our legs, and it looks like our bikes are getting a new paint job. “This is a mess! 8221; Dad keeps shouting and Quinn is on the verge of tears. I am freaking out, and Mom isn’t talking much. I look ahead just in time to see what might be… Lake Michigan? I just got off task!

The adventures of Shaun, Cindy, Abbey, and Quinn. Rain, of course. The Nickel has arrived. This is the replacement for my stolen Cannondale Rize. The Nickel is new model from Santa Cruz. It's a simple single pivot rear suspension like the classic Santa Cruz Superlight, but it has an extra link in the system that slightly alters the shock rate throughout the suspension travel. Check it out here. A nice looking bike in white, isn't it? Quinn made me ride it off the deck while he took pictures. When the oth...

The adventures of Shaun, Cindy, Abbey, and Quinn. Our local TV station was out at the bike park over the weekend taking some video for a report on the new stuff at the park. Q and I went out to help populate the trail while the video was being made. It was a good excuse for us to ride for a couple of hours. It was especially fun because there were quite a few of our bike park friends there. Click here to see the video. Four Bikes on the Frontier. Time Trial and Two Tandems. I was happy enough with my per...

The adventures of Shaun, Cindy, Abbey, and Quinn. I love bicycles. One of the best things about going to a bicycling event, whether it's a race or club ride or a college campus, is just seeing all the bikes. I have to admit that my favorite bikes aren't really the super-fast plastic race bikes (although I do like those, too); my favorites are those with style. Yeah, so the Barry-Roubaix: Killer Gravel Road Race. What a fun ride! Here's the Soma Double Cross configured for the Barry-Roubaix:. For breakfas...

The adventures of Shaun, Cindy, Abbey, and Quinn. Crested Butte - Day 4:. On the fourth day in Crested Butte, Heather and Chris spent the first part of the day with the kids while Cindy and I took our bikes out for an epic adventure. Most writers suggest that if you have just one day in Crested Butte, you should spend it on the 401 Trail. That's what Heather and Chris did the day before, and Cindy and I really considered it. Maybe we should have. On the drive up we passed a few groups of motocyclists, th...

The adventures of Shaun, Cindy, Abbey, and Quinn. As scaq makes the transition from Michigan to Colorado, we thought it would be appropriate to create a new blog to record our new adventures. We'll keep the Michigan scaqabout blog available as long as Google lets us, so if you'd like to review our history, feel free to explore the Archive section to the right. The new blog will be called "scaqaboutwest" and you can find it by clicking here. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

The adventures of Shaun, Cindy, Abbey, and Quinn. Easter Sunday on the Blue Burleys. Sunday morning; Easter candy; waffles for breakfast; more drywall mud. Sore butts from a long and bouncy ride the day before. Rain, rain, and more rain. Will it ever end? We averaged about 11 mph. The ride and the pace were nice. Plenty of time for chatting and checking out the scenery. Labels: Kids and family. Oh, what a week it has been! But I'll save that story for another day. After returning to the car and loading u...

The adventures of Shaun, Cindy, Abbey, and Quinn. Anderson in the Snow. Since the snow fell last week, I'd been thinking about getting out for a ride in it. The sun had hardly shown its face for days and it had been even longer since the temperature rose above freezing, so the ground under the snow was frozen solid. I only wished I'd had more time. Saturday school and more basketball. Usually some play dates on the weekend, and the occasional trip to the bike trails. House work and chores on Sund...Cindy...

The adventures of Shaun, Cindy, Abbey, and Quinn. Dual Suspension Commuter Bike. I've been hoping to find time to post a couple of new stories this week. I spent two weeks on a boat on the Gulf, which is worth mentioning (carefully) here. And there is a story somewhere in our mountain biking trip that took place during a thunderstorm last weekend. So far I have not found time to tell these tales, so this is just interim drivel. Bring me my dress! May I remind you all. I think you cheat, your majesty.
