Natural history stories from New Hampshire. Saturday, January 2, 2010. From my observation window this morning I fed the bluebirds and the titmice their usual wade of live mealworms. On cue, the arrived to the over-turned saucer and dove in. I have seen bluebirds eat 20 live mealworms at one sitting. eaten live these must cause some kind of flutter in the bluebirds' tummy.
