http://katrinamonkey.blogspot.com/2007/08/home-in-16-days.html
Stranger in a strange land. Babbling on (and on) about adventures and non-adventures. Wednesday, August 22, 2007. Home in 16 days! True, that. I will return to Canadian soil for the briefest time, in 16 days. The weirdest thing about it all, is that in less than a month, I'll be back here in Ulsan. It will be a busy couple of weeks - I am out of town this weekend (Busan! Today's my first day back at school after summer vacation. I have one class. Nothing exciting, nothing profound. Sorry. Especially sinc...

Stranger in a strange land. Babbling on (and on) about adventures and non-adventures. Thursday, August 28, 2008. A day of numbers. 371 - number of days since my last blog entry. 11 - number of people who, on my whirlwind to Canada and England mentioned my blog, and reading my blog. 1 - number of people who I thought were reading my blog (my mom! 3 - number of Korean verb forms that I could recall yesterday, when I stepped off my plane in Seoul. 8 - number of Korean verb forms that I can remember right now.

stranger in a strange land: the gym...

Stranger in a strange land. Babbling on (and on) about adventures and non-adventures. Wednesday, June 13, 2007. First of all, the Konglish term for gym is "Health Club" (pron. hel-su ku-lub). So I now say that when I speak English too. I have bonded with the following people over my gym membership (and also, worked out with them - although I like to work out alone, but people seem to want to work out together when they run into me so whatevs):. Another waygook teacher in my 'hood (ditto). When I was in T...

stranger in a strange land: it's happening
http://katrinamonkey.blogspot.com/2007/06/its-happening.html
Stranger in a strange land. Babbling on (and on) about adventures and non-adventures. Monday, June 18, 2007. I went for dinner tonight with a Korean friend. Her communicative English skills are quite good - however, she and I still work to communicate in either English or Korean. And for the first time, it was a more balanced communication - I was able to understand Korean words that she was using (ie. jja-da/salty) and provide her with the English counterpart! And it was grammatically correct!

Born in asia, raised in america, blessed with an interesting middle name. Oh what a weekend. It was Sara and Andrew's wedding weekend and with it blew in many people from across the Atlantic. Sara looked AMAZING, as did Andrew, and it was just a beautiful celebration:. This was not a great picture, but one of the only ones I have showing both of their faces. It turned out that almost everyone knew about it and I had absolutely no idea. Having him around for the weekend made the event that much better...

Born in asia, raised in america, blessed with an interesting middle name. Playing catchup, ketchup. So many words could be used to describe what life has been like over these past however many months, but I honestly don't feel like sitting here and spelling it all out! Hopefully the updates will be a little more frequent and possibly in the form of a photo here or there. I'm thinking of segueing this whole blog thing into a photography thing instead and am choosing to leave you with these two snaps&#...

Born in asia, raised in america, blessed with an interesting middle name. A trip to the past. Who didn't have one of these. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Asian American Joo was coined as a joke but is actually quite descriptive of who I am. As a Korean adoptee, I grew up in America and 'Joo' is the only part of my birthname that remains. This blog was started to record the little events in my life and thoughts in my head since it seems my paper journals never survive. View my complete profile. April 8, 2011.

Asian American Joo: home.
http://kjkoeman.blogspot.com/2010/06/home.html
Born in asia, raised in america, blessed with an interesting middle name. Home really is where the heart is, as cheesy as that sounds. I flew into Chicago Wednesday afternoon to be greeted by not only my mother and father, but also my younger sister and our DOG (dog was in the van). It was so great to see familiar faces and to be engulfed in their hugs. While this trip will be a busy one, and sad having to be apart from Nathan again. I'm pretty excited about getting ready for this whole wedding shin ding.
