Ria Hills Fine Art: hilly landscape
http://pastelpainter.blogspot.com/2009/01/hilly-landscape.html
Friday, January 2, 2009. 21" x 14" pastel painting. Surface: Canson Mi Teintes paper. I've always had a fondness for hilly landscapes and clouds are one of my favorite subjects. This is an older piece which I never posted. I recently photographed some of my older works because the images I had from a few years ago were not accurate. My newer camera does a much better job. Ria Hills Fine Art: footprints in the snow
http://pastelpainter.blogspot.com/2011/01/footprints-in-snow.html
Wednesday, January 5, 2011. Footprints in the snow. 24" by `18" daily acrylic painting. This was so much fun to paint. No references . . just my imagination. My daughter inspired the beginning of this painting and it just kept evolving until the last stroke of paint. As much as I hate the cold I love the look of fresh snow on the ground. Viewing this post may be redundant to those of you who subscribe to both of my blogs. I plan to merge them sometime soon. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
Ria Hills Fine Art: oriental paper fan
http://pastelpainter.blogspot.com/2010/10/oriental-paper-fan.html
Thursday, October 28, 2010. 12" by 36" oil painting, gallery wrapped and painted on the sides. I've been so busy with my daily small paintings that I forgot to post this oil painting which I completed last year. The reference for this painting is a hand fan of which I have a collection. The original fan has detail work on it which I left out because I wanted to abstract it enough to give the feeling of serenity. November 13, 2011 at 9:25 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Ria Hills Fine Art: January 2012
http://pastelpainter.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, January 5, 2012. 12" by 21" daily pastel painting, unframed. I used black Canson Mi Tientes paper which is a lighter paper and I haven't used it in years. It holds much less pastel particles so I need to be careful with my application. This was a fun piece. I'm thinking of going more abstract with the next one. 230 with free shipping and handling in the US. Please email me. For International shipping rates or other inquiries. Wednesday, January 4, 2012. 30" x22" acrylic painting.
Ria Hills Fine Art: Big Sky2
http://pastelpainter.blogspot.com/2011/01/big-sky2.html
Sunday, January 9, 2011. 18" x 24" daily acrylic painting. Surface - gallery wrapped canvas. For the past few years or so I've been reluctant to make a commitment to painting large. What was I thinking? These last two pieces were very satisfying to paint, mostly because I didn't use any references. I'm beginning to realize that I love painting landscapes. There's a simplicity in them, and a sense of serenity. To keep updated with larger works. Big sky 2 is great! Thanks for sharing this!
Ria Hills Fine Art: October 2010
http://pastelpainter.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Saturday, October 30, 2010. 24" by 36" acrylic painting. I painted this back in 2002 in response to the US's invasion of Afghanistan. Unfortunately children are the inevitable victims of war, not only in a physical sense but for a lifetime to come. Thursday, October 28, 2010. 12" by 36" oil painting, gallery wrapped and painted on the sides. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Uxbridge, Massachusetts, United States. View my complete profile.

Ria Hills Fine Art: Bio
http://pastelpainter.blogspot.com/p/bio.html
I have had a drive to create since I was a child. As a teen I was introduced to Alfred Van Loen, a New York sculptor and painter, who encouraged me to follow my passion and draw daily. Painters who have influenced my work the most are Maxfield Parrish and Georgia O’Keeffe. I then block in my colors and shapes with Nupastel and work my way up in layers using progressively softer pastels. I use only my fingers for blending. In 2006 I started a painting a day. Blackstone Valley Art Association. 2010) Artist...
