The To Do List. Monday, October 13, 2008. Tubing on the Santa Clara River. This could either be a lot of fun, or the worst idea ever. Put in near the merger of sespe and Santa clara near fillmore. Float down the river until passing under the 101 bridge in Oxnard. After this point the water become stagnate and really smelly so we will pull out near here. This must be done after a substantial rain, and i'm not sure if it's do-able, but i really want to give it a crack! Posted by Howard Esteban @ 8:26 PM.

The To Do List. Monday, October 13, 2008. Portero John Creek, warm-up backpacking trip. This hike will start in some serious elevation, and it only goes up. Beautiful high-mountain stream and scenery. Plus a few waterfalls, one upwards of 50 feet, near reyes peak. This hike begins at the end of matilija road in front of the Matilija wildlife refuge, and follows a dirt road about 3 miles to the upper north fork of the stream. Here the trail makes its way through a lush riparian habitat and deep into the Matilija Wilderness, passing numerous back country campsites, swimming holes, water falls, and interesting rock formations.
