Ramblings of an eclectic homeschooling mom of two munchkins, living in the great PNW. Wednesday, March 4, 2009. Little Brother goes to school? One of my blog readers, whom I met through the comments section not long ago (and who has two terrific blogs that I've since started following: Best Family Adventures. And A Year of Living Charitably. Was a little confused by my last blog entry The "Importance" of School. And that is the story of how Little Brother went to school. Behind in my reading! Thanks for ...

Dolphin Valley Academy: A River Runs Through It...
http://dolphinvalleyacademy.blogspot.com/2010/05/river-runs-through-it.html
Ramblings of an eclectic homeschooling mom of two munchkins, living in the great PNW. Wednesday, May 19, 2010. A River Runs Through It. Our backyard that is. We've finally started a "Rivers" unit study that I wrote a few years ago (which I have posted on a blog somewhere on the internet, but can't locate at the moment). On the schedule for tomorrow was to "build a model river", which I hadn't really worked out the details of, but was getting inspiration from this webpage. Homeschooling in the News.

Dolphin Valley Academy: September 2010
http://dolphinvalleyacademy.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Ramblings of an eclectic homeschooling mom of two munchkins, living in the great PNW. Tuesday, September 21, 2010. Participating in Peace Day. Today the kids and I participated in the International Day of Peace by making our own pinwheels, and sharing our wishes for peace. I found out about the Pinwheels for Peace Project. In the end, Little Brother settled on a message for his pinwheel: Peace means no more fighting. Someday. (oh, the irony of the Kung Fu Panda pencil, lol). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Dolphin Valley Academy: June 2010
http://dolphinvalleyacademy.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Ramblings of an eclectic homeschooling mom of two munchkins, living in the great PNW. Friday, June 25, 2010. To Facebook or not to Facebook? Anyone who knows me, knows that this question surely couldn't be about me, as I have heartily embraced Facebook and espouse it's benefits regularly. No, this question applies to my daughter, and others in the "under 13" set. What it boiled down to was that I didn't want to condone lying on the internet in order to access places where my child doesn't belong. 3 That ...

Ramblings of an eclectic homeschooling mom of two munchkins, living in the great PNW. Friday, September 11, 2009. We just started using Four Square Writing Method for grades 4-6. For writing, and Big Sister was immediately hooked. I chucked Writing Strands out the window then and there. This was our second try with Writing Strands, and we both found it excruciatingly dull. I bought a subscription to Aha! Through the Homeschool Buyer's Co-op. As well as additional biographies of famous astronomers. The AB...

Dolphin Valley Academy: October 2009
http://dolphinvalleyacademy.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Ramblings of an eclectic homeschooling mom of two munchkins, living in the great PNW. Tuesday, October 27, 2009. Enough complaining and whining - time for action. Friday is Little Brother's last day of public school! Thursday, October 1, 2009. A rant from a home schooling mom with a child in public school. Shall I count the ways in which I dislike school (in no particular order)? Can't you keep your mouths quiet for 15 minutes? Fortunately he said he hadn't, and you can't say stuff like that at school...
