Don is a Vietnam Veteran. In 2010 he was diagnosed as having a severe case of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) caused by his service as a Marine during the Vietnam War. In addition, the Veterans Administration has determined his severe heart disease to be caused by exposure to Agent Orange. Just recently he spent several months in Vietnam addressing these issues in his war memoirs - The Boy Died In Vietnam.
