Brisbane Journey: August 2010
http://brisbanejourney.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, August 19, 2010. Kai's Birthday in July. Has been keeping me very busy - writing a few different newsletters, and some website copy each week, a printed magazine every two months, and then other bits and pieces too (I've even been selling some advertising recently! So this blog has really ended up at the bottom of the list of things to do. It was especially thanks to Princess Tiana. Who created a most wonderful party that the girls absolutely loved! I had a fun time with the food - did these cu...
Brisbane Journey: January 2010

Saturday, January 30, 2010. Funny Sign and Notice. We spotted this sign while walking along the Bay at Wynnum. We found this notice in an old school building in the Caboolture Historical Village just north of Brisbane. Wednesday, January 27, 2010. Kai's First Day at Big School. The kids started school today and it was Kai's first day at big school! Slade also had a good day. He's gone into Year 2, but has some of his classmates with him again this year. Monday, January 18, 2010. He didn't tell me where h...
Brisbane Journey: Kai's Birthday
http://brisbanejourney.blogspot.com/2011/08/kais-birthday.html
Tuesday, August 2, 2011. We celebrated Kai's birthday on Wednesday last week, and then her party at the weekend. We decided to have her party at home with lots of games and activities for the 12 girls. It was a really wonderful morning and the girls were well behaved and they all played together nice. We kept them busy with musical hearts (instead of musical chairs), pass the parcel, decorating wand biscuits, making masks with glitter and other decorations, a treasure hunt, and a couple of other games.

Wednesday, April 14, 2010. Tax Refunds in Brisbane. There's a great story in the news today about how the tax office works here. When I see the way some things happen here, I really appreciate them. Simple things like being able to travel on a bus or train into the city. Phillip was waiting to catch a bus soon after he arrived here and the person next to him complained that the bus was a few minutes late - We just really appreciate the fact that we have access to public transport. Brisbane Journey: November 2010

Monday, November 29, 2010. Story of Love, Loss and Redemption Set in the Karoo. Been sent some information about a newly published book called Karoo Plainsong. Which is written by Barbara Mutch, who lived in South Africa for almost 40 years until she moved to the United Kingdom. It sounds like a great read. Forced to flee from the only home she knows, Ada must carve a life for herself, her daughter and her music in the bleak township that squats on the edge of the Karoo. The personal tale of a woman̵...
Brisbane Journey: May 2011

Friday, May 27, 2011. Phillip and I were very proud to watch Kai performing on stage during the school assembly this morning. She was with the Year 1 choir called Melodic Minors. They sang the National Anthem (I must say it's still somewhat strange for me to listen to that, and even more so watch my daughter sing it on stage), and also a song called Gary Galah. I'm rather glad that she learned this song at school, and shared it with us as I have now learned the correct pronunciation of galah. These birds...
Brisbane Journey: February 2010

Wednesday, February 10, 2010. What we've been eating! I've found some interesting tropical fruits in a local fruit and veg shop and a nearby market recently so we've been trying out some different fruit that's grown nearby. It's been lots of fun! They are sometimes sold by the name dinosaur egg! We've also had mangosteens (pictured at the top), which have quite a lemony tang. Then there are the rambutons, or hairy lychees, which are also similar to lychees and are quite sweet. I've yet to find the Black ...

Monday, December 12, 2011. Inspiration: Helping Kids to Fly. I really like this excerpt from How to help your child fly through life. Life is a lot like flying (in the aeroplane sense). Some people love it. Some people fear it. Some people are bored by it. Some people just ride it out neither bored nor enthused by it. Our aim as parents (and teachers) is to nurture children who love to fly. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The Andrew Family . Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. View my complete profile.
Brisbane Journey: October 2009

Thursday, October 15, 2009. I can't believe coming back to my blog after all this time that I've had so many visitors. Wow! It's been a very busy time for me. After being contracted to do some work for Sabona. Soon after I arrived in Australia, the work load has increased and most recently I was appointed editor of the magazine, which is for people from Southern Africa living in Australia. It's an awesome opportunity for me, pretty nerve-wracking too! And my Dad also arrives for a week just after Christm...

Donna Radner Art Quilts
Welcome to my website,. My world of color and texture. I began making fiber art in the 1980s, beginning by imagining ways to make traditional quilt designs more free form. As my work developed, experimentation led me to create new designs using curved piecing, fused landscapes, and eventually pleating curvy strips of hand dyed fabrics to mimic the striations in rocks and canyons. I hope you will enjoy exploring the evolution of my work over time. For prices and more information, please contact me.
