Thanks to a listing on freecampsites.com Cara and I found a sweet spot to call home just outside the entrance to Mesa Verde National Park. In exploring the area we each quickly found our pastimes for the afternoon. I found the head of a dead elk to dissect and Cara found a cardboard box that became a longbow target (yes, we have a 60″ longbow in the RV). Just south of Moab, the drab-sounding “Ken’s Lake” turned out to be anything but and King’s Bottom Campground (BLM) has us in a private spot just 500 feet from the Moab Rim trailhead, 20 feet from the Colorado River and tucked between two imposing sandstone rock formations. 8211; juggling the entire way down the trail.
