Chronicle of the Hoof: Space-age Shoes - Aug. 19
http://chronicleofthehoof.blogspot.com/2011/08/space-age-shoes-aug-19.html
Friday, August 19, 2011. Space-age Shoes - Aug. 19. We had a mild laminitic episode this week (lasting less than 48 hours). Responded with icing her hooves twice a day and by the second day her pulse returned to normal. No heat in the hooves, just a slightly elevated pulse. This is why taking pulses is so important! We are out of the Equi-Pak, and seeing how we do with out. While we did grow more sole, it was mostly soft sole. Not the hard, weight bearing sole that is desirable. Chronicle of the Hoof.

Chronicle of the Hoof: April 2011
http://chronicleofthehoof.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 28, 2011. I was digging around in some old photos and wanted to share the changes Buttercup's hooves have made since going barefoot. Now I'm still not an every-horse-must-be-barefoot person. But I do believe it was the right decision for Buttercup's hooves. And, really, that's what hoof care is all about: the best thing for the individual. Since we've had ups and downs over the last 21 months ( going barefoot post. November 2009: (post laminitic episode). Chronicle of the Hoof. Her hooves...

Chronicle of the Hoof: August 2010
http://chronicleofthehoof.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 22, 2010. Trimmer visit Aug. 21, 2010. Buttercup's farrier came out yesterday and the visit yielded positive results and positive comments. First off, these last four weeks were completely laminitic free under the vigilant eye of Bud's caretaker. Second, because of that all the growth we got was with healthy lamina and no detachment of lamina. Third, Buttercup's hooves seem to be trying to mold themselves into a healthier entity. Anyway, really happy with how quickly we are making progress...

Rehabing an Urban Transplant: August 2009
http://rehabinganurbantransplant.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Rehabing an Urban Transplant. The misadventures of an urban transplant and her life with 3 kids, 4 horses, and juggling everything else. Friday, August 21, 2009. Ok, so not skinny like I can fit into a zero (BTW, I have NEVER been able to wear a zero) but skinnier than I have been in almost 5 years! So, after the birth of the baby, I immediately dropped 20 lbs! I thew my hands up in disgust and said the hell with it! So, that's my brag for the year. Cookies for everyone! Monday, August 17, 2009. With the...

Chronicle of the Hoof: September 2010
http://chronicleofthehoof.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 6, 2010. Trimmer visit Sept. 4, 2010. I think the main story here is concavity. Unfortunately, the update isn't huge since two weeks is not a lot of time to grow a lot of change. But you can still see a lot of positive in these pics! Chronicle of the Hoof. Thursday, September 2, 2010. Hurricane Earl is skipping his way parallel to the East Coast right now, so I guess this is timely. So like a CYOA story, you are faced with your first decision:. 2 Turn to page Y, if you decide to evacuate.

Chronicle of the Hoof: It's not cushings, but she's still lame
http://chronicleofthehoof.blogspot.com/2011/07/its-not-cushings-but-shes-still-lame.html
Wednesday, July 27, 2011. It's not cushings, but she's still lame. Just got Buttercup's results back from the ATCH Insulin test. Insulin and hormone levels look normal, which mean she does not have Cushings Disease. While Cushings Disease would have meant access to supportive drugs, this is still a good thing, the vet assures me. Her normal insulin levels mean we've been managing her diet well and the vet said that Equine Metabolic/IR horses can have normal levels so that's still on the table. This blog ...
