Are there any risks of sedation? You may get a small amount of bruising in the back of your hand after the cannula is taken out. You may also experience a small ache as some of the sedation medication is given. Patients rarely vomit. It is very rare for patients to have allergies to the medications used. Please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment time. You will be met by your Consultant Anaesthetist either Richard, Juliet, David or Duncan. He will explain what will happen, go through a few questions and will be able to answer any questions you might have. Your Consultant Anaesthetist will stay with you throughout your procedure and look after you in recovery. After the procedure you will be monitored until you are able to be discharged. You will not be able to drive until the next day so you must.

Dr Richard Jee BM MRCP FRCA DICM FFICM. Qualified from Southampton University School of Medicine in 1999. He undertook his anaesthetic and intensive care training through the Wessex School of Anaesthesia.
