Sunday, June 12, 2011. Graduation or "now what? I can think of some other words to describe it (although none quite fit):. It has clearly been an emotional week with many contradictions. But that all led to two amazing graduation ceremonies. July 6th I am talking at Dorkbot about the DIY inkjet printer.

Attoparsec: September 2011
http://attoparsec-gadgets.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
A construction and brainstorming blog for Attoparsec projects. Thursday, September 29, 2011. My big new project for Burning Man this year was the Skinner Box, originally brainstormed between me and my dad two years ago on the way back from the 2009 Burn. It is, simply put, a very cruel joke: an exercise bike in the middle of the desert which randomly dispenses hard alcohol. Before taking it down I made this demo video:. Photo by Jen Kale'a. Arts and Culture Blog. Art of the Quote: Zen Pencils. Several weeks back a lovely cartoon inspired by Bill Waterson’s ‘Calvin and Hobbes’. Was making the rounds on the interwebs. I recently discovered that it was from a website called Zen Pencils: Cartoon Quotes from Inspirational People. Launched in early 2012, it is the brainchild of Australian cartoonist and graphic designer Gavin Aung Than and it’s inception is a story old as time. Says Than,. A Big Magnet: February 2012
http://abigmagnet.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Pictures from an accumulator. Saturday, February 18, 2012. While I am still very interested in messing with electronics in general, and Arduino powered recycled junk art work in particular, I have not been doing much of either lately. Instead I have been spending a lot of time working on turning my uninsulated, unheated, drafty garage into a proper shop. I call it The Age of Industry. I have not given up on abigmagnet, but I probably won't be back for a while. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

A Big Magnet: May 2011
http://abigmagnet.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Pictures from an accumulator. Saturday, May 21, 2011. Making progress on fixing the south bend lathe again. Using some nice one part industrial enamel. It stinks but it goes on well with a brush and dries to a hard glossy finish. I am putting on two coats over a phosphate based primer, and although I see all the inconsistencies in the casting I have so far resisted the urge to break out the bondo. So far. The color is WAY off. It is really a nice dark blueish gray (instead of robins egg blue). Making pro...

A Big Magnet: June 2009
http://abigmagnet.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Pictures from an accumulator. Tuesday, June 02, 2009. We built a patio. So one day during the course of the demolition I climbed up on the roof with our contractor and his two assistants. It only took about an hour or two to bust up the chimney and slide the bricks down into the yard. It took longer then that to stack them up by the garage! Should we slope the hole away from the house? If so by how much, and since we were making an "L" shape that gets complicated! We figured on 2" of gravel, 2" of sand a...

A Big Magnet: November 2009

Pictures from an accumulator. Friday, November 13, 2009. Arduino PID library in the playground. I just found out that user br3ttb. Created a very useful looking PID library. I had considered turning my hacked together code into a library, but never got to the point where I thought I could pull it off. This should definitely make it easier to test various physical setups as it will standardize the software to a great extent. I can't wait to try it out with a real project. I even have one!

A Big Magnet: Squigaloo kickstarter
http://abigmagnet.blogspot.com/2011/06/squigaloo-kickstarter.html
Pictures from an accumulator. Friday, June 17, 2011. I generally don't post work related stuff here, but this is just too big for me not too! For the last year or so my business partner Andy Lueck and I have been hard at work on Squigaloo. Our collaborative storytelling startup. Just this morning we launched our kickstarter. Campaign to raise some money so we can finish it off! I would love it if you take a minute to look at what we are doing, and (of course) to make a pledge! Follow me on Twitter.
