A fitness center in a neighboring town called to see if could teach zumba for them two nights a week. The money is better than the hourly wage I make at the Y and it isn't as far of a drive. Friday, February 26, 2010. OK, here's the first "official" post in awhile! Bill, Josh, Caleb, and I just returned on Monday from a week long trip to Phoenix, AZ to visit my folks. It sure was nice to feel 70s and warm sunshine again! It actually rained the last three days we were there, which, in it's own way, was also very nice. After all, it has been more than 4 months since we've smelled rain in the air! I took over 200 pictures, and hope to be posting some here after I download them from my camera.

Thursday, March 1, 2012. Wheezing on the Sidelines. Somewhere out of the fog. A crystal-clear memory smacked me from forty-plus years ago. It was the memory of the last time I felt unable to breathe. My college team was. Competing in a big Track and Field invitational in Claremont, California. It was May of 1970 in that smog-shrouded suburb just East of Los Angeles. The pollution was so dense on that hot afternoon that the runners on the other side of the track were colorless and indistinct in the haze.
