It’s been a long while since my last post, but no news was good news: My neutrophils held steady for most of the first half of 2009, and for the first time in years, my health wasn’t something I had to think about much. Late summer, Lake Michigan. After the bike theft situation. Of several weeks ago, I got a brief but nonetheless delicious taste of freedom one state over, in Wisconsin. I spent a lovely morning in Milwaukee riding a cruiser with fat tires that I borrowed from the Hotel Metro. The lakefront was pretty empty. Collapses, breaks, mishaps. A year and a day ago, the 35W bridge collapsed into the Mississippi River, and a year ago. I collapsed into a bed in a hospital right near the site. From the windows of the University Hospital, I watched the dive crews, decked out in their scuba gear, going into and out of the river. While this blog normally covers “ANC”s and being sick, the “RNC” is in St. Paul this week, and it too makes me sick. So, a brief thematic departure, if you please. Here are some cellphone snaps of the anti-war rally at the State Capitol. Protesters moved down toward downtown and the Xcel Center as the day went on.
