根據 1999年印度軟體協會- 麥肯錫研究報告 預估，2008年印度軟體從業人員將增加為 220 萬人。 屆時軟體的出口比例，將會由 1999 年的 10% 增為 35%，同時軟體產業的資本將從 1999 年的 420 億美元，躍增為 2,250 億美元。 從 1999 年到 2002 年間，印度資訊產業將以 46.3 的年複合成長率快速向上攀升。 軟體出口則以 53.3 的幅度表現傑出的成長率，產值從 1999 年的 38 億美元成長至 2000 年的 55 億美元 硬體出口部份成長同樣超過 50%，由 1999 年的 26 億美元成長至 2000 年的 39 億美元。 政府資訊產業部門估計在 2008 年時，軟體與硬體出口值將分別達 500 億美元及 100億美元。 以各種小型軟件(Emerging Slivers)、內嵌式軟件 Embedded software 、加強生產力之軟件產品 Productization 為主。 包括處理信用卡客戶服務系統 call center 、保單索賠客戶服務 insurance claims processing ，以及薪資、財務、物流與人力資源等資訊處理等系統。
