Dotty Textiles

Tuesday, 18 August 2015. I have finished it! The block hexagon crochet blanket is now officially finished. The crochet hook has been put down and the snuggle time has commenced. This blanket has a complete life of its own. It was never going to lie flat, even the centre blocks have peaks and dips where the shapes have been crocheted together, so the edging had to follow suit. Saturday, 15 August 2015. Dad found some tiny tiny. Empty eggshells in the flower bed. Hopefully that means we can look forwar...

Dotty Textiles: Waggon Wheel Crochet Flower

http://www.dottytextiles.blogspot.com/p/waggon-wheel-crochet-flower_7.html

Waggon Wheel Crochet Flower. Ok so this is a flower that I came up with for one of my secret projects, and was first revealed here. I have called it a waggon wheel flower because the middle 'spokes' remind me of them. They are very easy to make and can be whipped up in less than 10 minutes! For this tutorial I have used an aluminium 4mm hook (for UK people) and a random selection of cotton based yarns. Chain 5 and make a slip stitch into the first chain to form a magic circle. As you are ending the petal...

Dotty Textiles: Crochet Flowers & Leaves

http://www.dottytextiles.blogspot.com/p/crochet-flowers-leaves.html

Crochet Flowers and Leaves. So these are the flowers that were used to decorate my holiday hat. I think they are pretty much my own design, although as they are so simple someone somewhere has probably already thought of it. Nevertheless, I will share it with you anyway! I have used an alluminium 4mm hook which produces quite small and tight flowers. Round One: Ch 5. Join with a sl st into the 1st ch to form a magic ring. Round Two: 11dc into the ring. Join with a sl st into the 2nd top loop. Sl st into ...

Dotty Textiles: The Mother's Birthday

http://www.dottytextiles.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-mothers-birthday.html

Saturday, 8 August 2015. It has been The Mother's birthday this weekend. Yes the whole weekend apparently. It began on Thursday evening with a family meal at one of our local pubs, The Highlands. They do really really nice food and we were all absolutely stuffed to this gills! On Friday (the actual day) I was the only one who had to get up in the morning and go off to work. The cats were up demanding breakfast so I still had someone to talk to and I left Ziggy guarding a little present for The Mother.

Dotty Textiles: Fork Pom Poms

http://www.dottytextiles.blogspot.com/p/fork-pom-poms.html

So here we are then, fork pom poms. Easy peasy! So then chums, all you need is a bundle of wool, a fork and a pair of scissors. Cut a length (about 20-30 centimetres) and fold it over the fork down the middle. Take the end of the ball of wool and start wrapping it around the fork, building it up to a decent width (don't cut the end of the wool you have been wrapping). Cut the wool attached to the ball, then cut the wrapped wool at the edge of the fork- both sides! 30 November 2013 at 21:37.

Dotty Textiles: African Flower Crochet Hexagons

http://www.dottytextiles.blogspot.com/p/african-flower-crochet-hexagons.html

African Flower Crochet Hexagons. Hi Chaps, welcome to my African flower tutorial! Now this is definitely not my own design, it is in fact a pattern that has been around for many years; however, after discovering a picture of one of these blankets and deciding I wanted to make one, I struggled to find a picture heavy tutorial, resorting to translating various American patterns and guessing my way along. Righto then, here we go! Chain 5 ( I find an easy way to change your colour is to pull the new colour t...

MM: Adventures in Faith

MM: Adventures in Faith. Thursday, November 18, 2010. George and I were in Little Rock this week for me to have some tests and see my doctor. The bone marrow biopsy showed only 8.5% myleoma cells in my marrow. In July there was 23% myeloma cells. The PET scan also showed less activity. The Velcade/dex IV that I have once a week is working well. My doctor wants me to continue this for another 3 months. I'll return to LR, have another bone marrow biopsy and see the doctor then.
