I noticed lots of tourists in town as I walked to lunch at a restaurant called the Inle Pancake Kingdom, with a convincing sign asking, "Are you tired of rice? Nyaungshwe is much changed from when I was last here in 1994. There are now several multi-story hotels and it now seems a town largely devoted to tourism. Back at my hotel about noon, I had lunch and spent most of the afternoon on my balcony reading. The sky clouded up and it rained about 5. Just before dark I took a short walk down the road, passing hillsides of tea. The sky was cloudy and Adam's Peak hidden. I went to bed about 8:30 and slept ten hours. Tuesday, May 20, 2014. Only a fifteen minute line this time. Just after dark I walked along Khao San Road and the street just north of it.
