Doug Da Trucker: Trip from hell
http://dougdatrucker.blogspot.com/2009/11/trip-from-hell.html
Three and a half years on the road driving a big rig after being a photographer for 20 years. Saturday, November 28, 2009. Smacked my first deer, got a speeding ticket, knocked over a utility pole and could not get home for Thanksgiving. That made this last time out the trip from hell. Having the time to visit with friends in Virginia, hitting a couple of tasty micro-breweries and getting some good miles helped ease the pain. Made that a stop-over so I could eat and drink a few beers.
Doug Da Trucker: Pissed Off!
http://dougdatrucker.blogspot.com/2010/01/pissed-off.html
Three and a half years on the road driving a big rig after being a photographer for 20 years. Friday, January 22, 2010. Time to vent a bit. Traveling this country has proven to be a mixed pleasure. I've seen some absolutely beautiful places and witnessed some disgusting behavior. New York City at sunset, the Thousand Island region of Lake Ontario, the New River Gorge filled with mist as seen from the bridge in West Virginia and a desert sunset as seen from Highway 54 in New Mexico. Unfortunately, this ha...
Doug Da Trucker: Hookers in Little Rock
http://dougdatrucker.blogspot.com/2009/12/hookers-in-little-rock.html
Three and a half years on the road driving a big rig after being a photographer for 20 years. Wednesday, December 16, 2009. Hookers in Little Rock. I've been driving about 16 months now. In that time I've been approached once, indirectly, by a lot lizard, the derogatory term used to describe a truckstop hooker. I was in San Antonio, TX and a woman was walking from rig to rig at the truckstop I had chosen to park for the night. Guys tried to describe where they were parked and she asked them to flash thei...
Doug Da Trucker: Apologies and How I Decided to Drive Big Rig

Three and a half years on the road driving a big rig after being a photographer for 20 years. Friday, July 16, 2010. Apologies and How I Decided to Drive Big Rig. Apologies for not keeping my blog current. I decided that I should tell the story of how I ended up being an over the road truck driver. Now some of those reading this will have heard the tale but not most and certainly not in the boring detail I’m liable to put down here. No thanks. Most opted for unemployment and sought work in the free-f...

Doug Dartsch dot com. I Live, I Work, I Write . . . Our world is upside down from how it was when I was raised. I write to escape the chaos, to get lost in the art of putting pen to paper and letting the words flow. I live with my family in the Northern part of the Midwest, in a small college town. Our nest is empty now, making the bustle of family get togethers all the more joyful. READ ON . . .

Three and a half years on the road driving a big rig after being a photographer for 20 years. Friday, July 16, 2010. A Bit of History. A Bit of History. Perhaps a bit of history leading to the telling of this story. My initial decision to drive truck began in 2007. I sought out information about the company, applied for and received a response indicating that I was “conditionally” hired and was to begin training in about 3 weeks, after a medical exam. I just gave notice that I was leaving the paper!

I've been fortunate so far to enjoy a diverse career that has allowed me to develop expertise in several different areas.
