Home projects. Work stuff is here: http:/ swampcastle-scrapbook.blogspot.com/. Wednesday, August 1, 2012. Tipi, Teepee, Tepee. Here's what I've been doing all spring and half the summer in my free time: making a tipi! My daughter in the back is eight years old, and is sitting on a deflated air mattress; the cloth in the foreground is the edge of the door opening. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Swamp Castle: November 2013
http://swampcastle.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Home projects. Work stuff is here: http:/ swampcastle-scrapbook.blogspot.com/. Thursday, November 21, 2013. Tipi pole and hat system. Here is my first follow-up on my tipi post. As I said in that first post, I decided to make a traditional tipi cover, based on instructions in the book " The Indian Tipi. I made an "accessory ring" that locks into the groove where the aluminum poles join. It is useful for hanging things from. The ring clamp is in two sections, and locks in place when the accessory ...The i...

http://swampcastle.blogspot.com/2014/05/toasty-fingers.html
Home projects. Work stuff is here: http:/ swampcastle-scrapbook.blogspot.com/. Friday, May 16, 2014. For all those out there with frozen fingers, I offer this solution: the humble heating pad, already available at any drug store or Wal Mart. Keep those fingers toasty! And put it under my mouse and keyboard. Hurrah! Not a perfect fix, but so so so much better. I also turned my computer backwards, so that the fan exhaust blows towards me. That helps a little too. Mitochondrial Anarchy: A case of BAT attack. Let The Games Begin. The Metabolic Winter Hypothesis. May 13, 2014. This blog really started, because Tim Ferriss insisted I put “something” up before our 4 Hour Body Nightline segment aired in late 2010. I had no idea what direction my research would take at that point and certainly no idea how this blog would unfold. But make no mistake, I’ve had wrong ideas about the world. The Emotion of Science. Did you get that? What if I’m Tricked. Two weeks ago one of ...

Swamp Castle: January 2012
http://swampcastle.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Home projects. Work stuff is here: http:/ swampcastle-scrapbook.blogspot.com/. Wednesday, January 25, 2012. Garland attached to Brick. This post isn't exactly timely, but you'll have plenty of time to prepare for next Christmas. :) I bought garlands to hang on the doorway Christmas-before-last. Then I looked for hangars to let me hang it on my brick home. Guess what? I couldn't find anything! Not damaging to the brick. Attractive or subtle enough to look ok when the garland wasn't up. Holes through the c...

http://swampcastle.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Home projects. Work stuff is here: http:/ swampcastle-scrapbook.blogspot.com/. Friday, July 22, 2011. After base coats, sanding, and feeling afraid of messing up, the paint job is complete! Thanks go to my husband for helping, and for the photography. Here's how it looks from the back. And here it is back-lit by a lamp, to illuminate the layers. It's hard to capture the details in a single photo. Links to this post. The wheels turned out unfortunately not really round, but that didn't seem like a big deal.

Swamp Castle: May 2011
http://swampcastle.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Home projects. Work stuff is here: http:/ swampcastle-scrapbook.blogspot.com/. Monday, May 16, 2011. Last year I got a killer birthday present from my husband. A 3d printer, just what every girl dreams of! D I couldn't believe it when I found out how affordable it was, compared to the super-expensive machines at work especially. Now that I finally have my hands on one, the aroma of extruding plastic and whirr of little motors frequently waft out from the corner of our room! Links to this post.
