Guilt - On a Darkling Whim

http://douglangille.ca/guilt

On a Darkling Whim. Husband, father, writer and shameless technophile. Less than 1 minute read. I know what you did, said the voice and hung up. I stared at the phone. Unknown number. This was the third day in a row. 9am. On the dot. Stuffing the cell in my pocket, I trudged upstairs to the cafeteria. Dark roast, black. The naked truth. I didn’t do a damn thing. 11:30 creeped up and I locked my screen. The lunch table conversation washed over me as I munched, head down. Man, kale is chewy. July 17, 2015.

Of Blood and Text Messaging – Doug Langille

http://douglangille.ca/of-blood-and-text-messaging

What is a Doug? Dark tales of whimsy. From a series of tubes. Of Blood and Text Messaging. April 23, 2015. April 19, 2016. Detective Arnie Chalmers dropped his finished cigarette to the asphalt, ground it with his heel, and waited for his partner to catch up. Ready, Steve? Stephen Morris picked up the butt, dropped it into his coffee cup, and stuffed it into his coat pocket. What do we got? Stephen looked across the driveway to a middle-aged man getting examined by paramedics. So, he’s not the killer?

Haley’s Tree – Doug Langille

What is a Doug? Dark tales of whimsy. From a series of tubes. June 22, 2015. April 19, 2016. Written by Doug Langille. Doug Langille is a husband, father, writer and shameless technophile living the good life in Nova Scotia. He's also a grandfather, bird keeper, dog owner and cat butler. He doesn't usually talk about himself in the third-person, but when he does he tends to bend the truth. Leave a Comment Cancel reply. View douglangille’s profile on Facebook. The Interview – Doug Langille

What is a Doug? Dark tales of whimsy. From a series of tubes. April 20, 2015. April 19, 2016. Janine let her hair flop forward on the left, decided against it, and threw her hair up in a clip. Lessons – Doug Langille

http://douglangille.ca/lessons

What is a Doug? Dark tales of whimsy. From a series of tubes. April 17, 2015. April 19, 2016. So, I’ve been reading my NaNoWriMo novel today and had a brainwave. My ‘Haley’ story is post-apocalyptic zombie fare, but it’s peopled with some strong characters in a kind of ‘Scooby Gang’. I really want the reader to care about them as they face the insurmountable. The problem is, I haven’t screwed up the intestinal fortitude to finish any of the four scenes. That said, here are the opening bits:. I rarely rem...

WeekendCoffeeShare – July 25, 2016. July 25, 2016. Well it wasn’t just our Weekend Coffee Share. Host that was late to the coffee share fest. I too am late, beyond late, so late I missed the opportunity to link to the coffee share linky (and last week I completely blew it off altogether). You’ll have to forgive me, I’ve already had my coffee this morning. I can always whip up another cup or make up a cup if tea (hot or iced). 8220;Beyond proud of how my son did this last monthas a junior counselor. He wa...

Ten Essential Fleetwood Mac Songs | Hi. I'm Dave.

https://daveallenwriter.wordpress.com/2014/12/14/ten-essential-fleetwood-mac-songs

Hi I'm Dave. The untethered ramblings of a middle-aged man. Ten Essential Fleetwood Mac Songs. December 14, 2014. Another note. I spent five hours digging up notes and quality video links (removed here) for the original story, for which Yahoo paid me a set fee of $10. A little easy math tells me that adds up to $2.00 an hour. On the other hand, the story received 14 hits. Not such a good deal for Yahoo, either. Fleetwood Mac is hitting the road again. 2 Oh, Well. 4 Go Your Own Way. Buckingham’s bio...

She Should Know Me By Now | Hi. I'm Dave.

https://daveallenwriter.wordpress.com/2014/12/07/she-should-know-me-better-by-now

Hi I'm Dave. The untethered ramblings of a middle-aged man. She Should Know Me By Now. December 7, 2014. My wife, trying to drag me out of the knuckle-dragging, hard-copy book reading era, recently bought a Kindle Fire for me. By signing up for Amazon Prime, she said, I can buy books for $2.99, $1.99, even $0.99, instead of dropping $25 at Barnes and Noble every week (Not to mention the shelf space we’ll save). Yesterday, our bank statement came in. “What’s this,” she asked? December 7, 2014. I have an i...

My Year In Books – 2014 | Hi. I'm Dave.

https://daveallenwriter.wordpress.com/2014/12/31/my-year-in-books-2014

Hi I'm Dave. The untethered ramblings of a middle-aged man. My Year In Books – 2014. December 31, 2014. According to Goodreads, I read 16 books last year. That’s half a dozen more than I read in 2013, and a new personal record. Yeah, I’m proud of myself. So, in an effort to annoy everyone with a little braggadocio, following is a list of my five favorite books this year. Not what I would call the best, just the ones I liked the most:. 5 – Fire in the Hole, by Elmore Leonard. A to Z Stories of Life and De...

https://jottingsandwritings.wordpress.com/2015/07/26/weekendcoffeeshare-2015-july-12-25

WeekendCoffeeShare: 2015, July 12 – 25. July 26, 2015. Joining in for another Weekend Coffee Share. I have to apologize for missing last weeks Coffee Share, and, for jumping in and out on this week so fast. It seems like it’s been so crazy around here that I can’t even recall what was happening last weekend that I missed out… Or maybe it was that I was so exhausted that I completely spaced or skipped right over. In any event, I’m sorry I missed. WeekendCoffeeShare: 2015, July 05 – 11. Nice to meet you.

Sublime Text packages: working in 2 and 3. I maintain the Git package for Sublime Text. Which is kind of fun and also occasionally stressful. I recently did a major refactor of it, and want to share a few tips. Why did I feel the need to branch the package? It’s annoying, as a plugin developer, because of a few crucial differences. Uses Python 2.7. Puts all package contents into a shared namespace. Uses Python 3.3. Puts all package contents into a module named for the package. What changed in Python 3.

Hi I'm Dave. The untethered ramblings of a middle-aged man. I’m a real Writer! December 22, 2014. I’m going to move this blog away from he depressing and disturbing subject matter of late. I welcome any and all criticism (especially that which will produce a better title). But please, be gentle. December 22, 2014. Tags: flash fiction. fiction. This blog is my h...

Encouraging War Against Heroin Addiction | Hi. I'm Dave.

https://daveallenwriter.wordpress.com/2014/12/16/encouraging-war-against-heroin-addiction

Hi I'm Dave. The untethered ramblings of a middle-aged man. Encouraging War Against Heroin Addiction. December 16, 2014. Below is another article I penned for Yahoo; it appeared under Yahoo Voices in January. It was written in response to a Yahoo request for commentaries on what America should focus on in 2014. It didn’t make much of an impact – I believe it totaled 14 total hits in the six months before Yahoo killed its Contributor program. Show that previous-year users grew from 373,000 in 2007, to 669...

I’ve always loved the many aspects of photography but I am especially interested in its relation to memory. A photograph remains as is. Or, does it? We do know now that memories degrade, that when we remember something repeatedly, the most recent memory is actually a memory of the second most recent memory, not a memory of the actual source event. It’s like a Xerox of a Xerox. . Self-portrait in a bathroom mirror. Posted at 02:09 PM. I didn’t think so. Corrective eye surgery? Posted at 06:59 PM. If you h...

Friday, September 21, 2007. An Injury to One. An Injury To One. Direcetd by Travis Wilkerson. What this film does is endorse my rage, pure and simple. I don’t think it is a spoiler to say that An Injury To One. Is about the murder of IWW activist Frank Little in Butte, Montana in 1917. Who did it? That’s what the film is about. And why they did it. And what else they did. And what that means. What does it mean? An Injury to One. Somehow transcends the despair that is intrinsic to its story. There is ...

Monday, April 20, 2009. Oceans floating in the sky with melted faces and screaming thighs. Traces of naked backs and silent eyes. He stares through the windows in the sand reminiscing images through an inverted telescope of chewed bubble gum. Voices staining the transcendent sighs and embroidered time. He walks after whispers of unborn corpse. Shadows of blooming obsession and drifting bubbles of broken cries. Firestorms of mortal soles untangled footprints of albino nights. His burden is the ground.
