Dr Douglas Chalmers is a Caledonian Scholar and Senior Lecturer in Media and Journalism at Glasgow Caledonian University. For five years until December 2010, Dr Chalmers was a member of the BBC's Audience Council Scotland, advising the BBC Trust on issues of minority language transmission - in particular Scottish Gaelic.
