Recounting daily adventures and encounters with wildlife in Northeast Ohio. There is always something new to see and learn. Thursday, September 19, 2013. Finally Made it to HAWK MOUNTAIN. Oh, and I finally wrote a new blog! I decided that for the sake of more frequent blog posts that short stories are ok as long as there are nice pictures to look at, right? Anyway, I am going to tell the story of the wonderful weekend that Alex and I had in eastern Pennsylvania over the weekend. Sharp-shinned Hawks are s...

Discovering Northeast Ohio: Lagging - for Good Reason

Recounting daily adventures and encounters with wildlife in Northeast Ohio. There is always something new to see and learn. Tuesday, May 1, 2012. Lagging - for Good Reason. Beyond these excuses, I think that I may look into getting a desktop PC and a new photo library software; something that won't be such a time-leeching hassle. If that ever happens then maybe I will have more time to write blogs and share my discoveries with all of you who are interested : ). The Spring Peepers have been calling since ...

Recounting daily adventures and encounters with wildlife in Northeast Ohio. There is always something new to see and learn. Tuesday, February 15, 2011. Originally uploaded by DMarcumPhotography. I had a great weekend, I can already see how it's going to be extremely hard to keep up with this blog. As soon as it gets a bit nicer outside and Spring time starts dealing me all kinds of wonderful things to see, I don't think that I'll have time to sit down and write about it all! Beech nuts are also great mas...

Discovering Northeast Ohio: February 2014

http://dougmarcum.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html

Recounting daily adventures and encounters with wildlife in Northeast Ohio. There is always something new to see and learn. Monday, February 17, 2014. Birds, birds, birds. White-breasted Nuthatches ( Sitta carolinensis. Are amazing birds who are able to exploit a unique foraging niche in the bird world - they can move face first down trees! They must have an advantage this way in inspecting tree trunks for insect prey and other tasty morsels. EBird is single-handedly responsible for my transition. Haha b...

Out And About...: Making Friends

http://bradgschultz.blogspot.com/2011/03/making-friends.html

Describing my adventures of the natural world. Friday, March 11, 2011. Today was a CRAZY day in Mentor, OH. First, I went to bed with no snow on the ground and woke up to about 8" of fresh powder! We rushed back to the car to get a little bit of trail mix to feed them in this famished winter weather. When we returned to the spot there seemed to be about 15 to 20 birds ready to eat! We put a little food in our hands and had a photoshoot with the snowbirds. Tufted Titmouse feeding from my hand.
