My portrait process offers a number of options. I can either start with a photo shoot or work from a treasured image that you already have. For instance, for a ballet portrait, dancers can be photographed in a specific pose or captured in rehearsal or performance. Based on lighting, clarity and form, an image will then be chosen and rendered in pencil, pastel, or pen and ink. Galleries — Ballet. My drawing, ‘La Danseuse’, combined with a love of ballet, gave me the courage in 1984 to approach a local ballet school to arrange a photo shoot of one of their classes. I moved to Victoria shortly thereafter and the photos, along with my drawing pens, were filed away but never forgotten. Almost 25 years later, I dusted them off and began drawing the eighteen images of Ballet Studies. The cards are also available in the WORKS FOR SALE.
