http://dougpayne.blogspot.com/2011/07/return-to-forever-complete-columbia.html

Thursday, July 14, 2011. Return to Forever – The Complete Columbia Albums Collection. After a prodigious session career in the 1960s, several solo albums that toyed with both the traditional and freer forms of jazz and a mercurial period of experimentation with Miles Davis between 1968 and 1972, pianist and composer Chick Corea crystalized the notion of his first “group” endeavor, to be known as Return to Forever. Corea recorded his blueprint for the concept with his tremendous. And, brilliantly, on.

SOUND INSIGHTS: George Benson "Benson Burner"

http://dougpayne.blogspot.com/2011/07/george-benson-benson-burner_10.html

Sunday, July 10, 2011. George Benson "Benson Burner". When guitarist George Benson’s Warner Bros. debut. Was issued in March 1976, it immediately became a hit; indeed one of the largest hits jazz has ever known. Guided by the successful hit single “This Masquerade” (Leon Russell’s 1972 original, previously covered by Helen Reddy and The Carpenters),. Any label that ever had anything whatsoever to do with Benson prior to. One of these releases was Columbia’s double-album compilation, cleverly titled.

Wednesday, June 29, 2011. Bernard Herrmann at 100. Composer Bernard Herrmann emerged from the Golden Age of cinema and contributed a signature sound to some of history’s most significant films. While his name may not be known to most of today’s filmgoers – he died, after all, a full generation or two ago in 1975 – Bernard Herrmann’s music is undoubtedly some of the best and best known the cinema has ever produced. 1941), to his last, Martin Scorsese’s. Monday, May 30, 2011. Cincinnati based guitarist Wilbert Longmire has long had a curious career as a legend throughout northern Ohio and as an occasional headliner on national albums, paired with some of jazz’s greatest names. Here are some of mine. Tuesday, March 30, 2010. Sometimes I’d catch one of those favorites on the radio—usually an upbeat, uptempo thing, horns harmonizing over a tight rhythm section. I’d listen out for the who and the what and sometimes I got it:. Benny Golson, Stablemates. McCoy Tyner, Contemporary Focus. Song For My Father.

Adam Falcon Press/Blog: Don't Look Under The Bed!

http://adamfalconpress.blogspot.com/2013/12/dont-look-under-bed.html

Friday, December 27, 2013. Don't Look Under The Bed! 5 days have gone by and my friend from the music store is unable to get the first guitar that I was originally looking to buy ( The Nationa. Later upon entering Gloria's home she told me about her husband, his guitars and how much he loved playing them. Now there are many things that thrill my imagination and when things appear to be coincidental, I'll question whether there is any such thing at all. How uncanny is it for it to be November when. Quote Gene Ludwig “I play organ because I love it, and the people I play for love it. And I play it in Pittsburgh because my family and my roots are there.” Ludwig is just one of the army of musicians who have contributed to this city’s rich musical heritage, but without his contributions we’d be short on a very interesting chapter in the history book. 8220;Sticks and Stones” Par...

Friday, September 9, 2011. Last Night of Summer. Wednesday night Eric Alexander, Joe Farnsworth, and John Webber took the stage and opened their set with a driving piece they call "Bronx Jazz Session Blues," born out of the last year and a half of doing gigs up here in our neighborhood. This was our second gig at An Beal Bocht Cafe and we are so pleased to be there. The acoustics are brilliant. I loved their rendition of Bluebird, with penetrating, irresistible swing. Click here. Summer Anthesis | Feeling and Believing, Deliberately

Feeling and Believing, Deliberately. New Year – 1/6/2017. January 6, 2017. A new year. It’s been nine months since I’ve posted anything new. Last year was a roller coaster. But life goes on. We have to use our experiences to help us grow. Move on and make the best of it, regardless of what cards we’re dealt. That’s something I’ve seen my entire life. Powerful lessons that won’t ever be forgotten. Model house Christmas gift I received from my brother, Charles, Christmas 2016. April 8, 2016. It’s Mon...
