Thorpe Village Hall, Derbyshire - History

Thorpe Village Hall was built as a Parish Reading Room in 1887. It requires substantial maintenance from time to time and the costs of things like roof and floor repairs cannot be met out of hiring charges. The Hall relies for assistance for funding such work on outside bodies. Thorpe Parish Council have contributed funds for the purchase of a stage in 2004, for repairs to the roof at the rear of the hall in 2009 and the provision of a hearing loop in 2010. Join our mailing list. Is a cross country race of 4 3/4. Mile, run by 1200 to 1400 people of all abilities. The venue is the picturesque area around the village of. In the south of the Derbyshire Peak District. The course is mainly along field paths and open ground in the valleys of the river Dove and Manifold. One of the excitements is the crossing of the rivers Dove at the well known Stepping Stones. A very close race this year, won by Alasdair Campbell. First lady home was as last year Elsbeth Grant.

During recycling week, children will be taking part in a range of activities, including:. Art projects, e.g. pictures using recycled materials, creating mini recycling bins and making parachutes out of recycled plastic bags for an outdoor Science experiment! Drama projects, e.g. news reports, debates, freeze frames and plays. We are asking children to dress up as a Recycling Superhero!
