We did have our moments of fun while camping but at the same time it was difficult to enjoy our trip knowing Ann was leaving us. On Sunday, we decided to go on a hike. Yay! Downs Family Hiking Adventures. Sunday, September 11, 2011. September 2011 - Havasupai Trip. Our trip to Havasupai was amazing! We started our trek down into the canyon at 5am. The first 1.5 miles is switch backs - easy going down. It took us about an hour to hike down the switch backs. Then another 3 hours to hike the 6.5 miles to Supai Village. The hike is relatively easy and winds through the canyon. The pictures below don't show just how colorful and beautiful the canyon is. The water was an aqua blue.

Downs Family Hiking Adventures. Friday, July 8, 2011. Happy Fourth of July! James, Denine and Brigham. This beautiful flower was in our campsite. It would bloom every morning. Our campsite - lots of shade. We didn't take into account that it would be a 3-mile uphill climb! Here are a few pics of the fire damage and our uphill climb to the trail head. This is a natural spring and where we wish we had stopped. The next 1/3 mile was an uphill climb that nearly did us in! We made it back to the trail head!

Downs Family Hiking Adventures. Friday, March 18, 2011. March 2011 - West Fork Trail. Brigham and his friend Matt. Starting out with happy faces is good. Me and my sweetheart ready to embark on a new trail. Near the beginning of our hike we came across an old abandoned house (more recently used as a chicken coop) with mortared red sandstone walls. A new home for the boys! Close by was a cellar actually cut into the face of the mountain. Does this trail make my butt look big? James, Denine and Brigham.
