Would guess that the hedge fund will allow them several things:. 1 They can (if they are very careful) trade either /- on their own buyout plans. 2 Get more into trading so they can keep that part of the business more private (particularly in the pre-takeover phase). 3 Offer clients a place to put their money while they are waiting for the next mega LBO. Saturday, April 7, 2007. I'm guessing every investment bank, exchange, brokerage, private equity firm, hedge fund wants to bring in-house as much of their operations as possible. Thus a Goldman-Sachs runs hedge funds and other trading entities inside the umbrella of the larger company. That way M&A activity, trading schemes, etc. can be pursued away from prying eyes of competitors, regulators, clients, and the financial press. Posted by so crates.
