Assorted: AFL, Rugby, Jewel Tower and Oktoberfest. December 28, 2013 at 3:52 pm Posted in London. Assorted bits and pieces:. 8211; By random chance I was walking near Oval and saw a bunch of Australians sporting AFL team colours. A quick google later and and it turned out there was an exhibition game. There were 10,000 people but it definitely feel like it. Pretty sparse. September 11, 2014 at 11:30 am Posted in Uncategorized. I’ve been toying with tumblr over the past few months as an easier/quicker/shorter way to do updates (and being about as prolific there as I’ve been here). January 12, 2014 at 5:51 pm Posted in Out and About. Went to Albert Embankment near Lambeth Bridge to watch London’s fireworks. As they explode from the Eye on the same side you get a partial view but that’s fine. Overall they were decent but not breath taking. It does make me wonder why London doesn’t make greater use of the buildings, river barges and bridges to make it a real spectacle alongside other major cities. Glad I went to them but not something I have to rush back to. 1 Comment ». Oh my that&#...

V&A: Hollywood Costume | Active Procrastination

https://activeprocrastination.wordpress.com/2013/12/28/va-hollywood-costume

December 28, 2013 at 1:58 pm Posted in London. Last year we went to the V&A’s Hollywood Costume exhibit. Again this was a super popular exhibit which meant trying to see items and importantly read the information was particularly challenging. The collection covered an array of movies so while Dorothy’s red shoes might not be your thing then Indiana Jones may be more to your liking. When I was there (and possibly more cities as well). 1 Comment ». Feed for comments on this post. Pingback by All caught up!

Eddie Harvey tribute concert. January 11, 2014 at 2:44 pm Posted in London. I’m not particularly musical but was invited to the Eddie Harvey. For an evening of jazz. Without knowing anything about jazz I’ll have to fall back on the classic “I know it when I see (or hear) it”. The concert was several hours long but didn’t feel like it. The acts paying tribute to Eddie were sharing their stories and were engaging. 2 Comments ». Feed for comments on this post. 8212; January 11, 2014 #. Nothing at the moment.

December 28, 2013 at 2:10 pm Posted in London. In 2012 it was the Queen’s diamond jubilee and to celebrate there was a regatta. Along the Thames river. Got there an hour or so before it was meant to start with my friend. Even then we were two people deep from our chosen spot on the river. Luckily I’m tall enough to see over fairly easily. Failing that the randoms near us with their cameras out (or in one case a streaming video from BBC) helped to get a closer view of the activities. 1 Comment ». London R...

Gluten Free Homebrew!

Saturday, February 26, 2011. I'm going to celebrate hops for a moment. Last November I was at the Ballard Farmer's Market and saw that Rockridge Orchards. Made a hopped cider. I bought a bottle. I was a little worried it'd be too sweet but it wasn't. The hops were faint but they were there. It's really good stuff. Washington is the number one producer of hops and apples in the United States, so when you live here, these two things should be combined.often. So when the brew store. So I did boil the cider ...

Down With Righty!

Thursday, November 10, 2016. Yes, we are all as confused as you are. Many of us have been confused and upset about the outcome of Tuesday's Presidential election. How could Donald Trump be elected when a majority of Americans voted for Hillary Clinton? Of course, the popular vote and electoral vote are frequently out of proportion, but generally this disproportion is not meaningful. So what if we did away with the Electoral College and every state was in play? If your only defense of the Electoral Colleg...
