Calculators are not permitted in the Written Rounds, but they are permitted in the Individual, Team and Tiebreaker (if needed) Rounds. When calculators are permitted, students may use any calculator (including programmable and graphing calculators) that does not contain a QWERTY (typewriter-like) keypad. Mathletics problems are designed to engage middle school students in problem solving which extends and builds on their present knowledge of mathematics. Many of the problems can be solved by the creative application of traditional school mathematics topics. Use these problems to extend the knowledge that is presented in class. Mathletics offers two different competition levels:. There are two different competition levels; 6th Grade. There are four students on a team. Each team is allowed one alternate. Each school is allowed to enter a maximum of two teams and 3 alternates for cluster competitions. One 6th Grade team and One 7th/8th Grade teams OR two 6th Grade teams or two 7th/8th Grade teams. Each team consists of 4 members and one alternate. Competitions are held during the school day. On JANUARY 18th, 2017.
